Do you have a local agreement on longer deliveries, if not your delivery span is still 3.30!!! even with high capacity trolleys etc. i know that we will move to longer delivery spans nationally in a year or two, but we should be demanding somthing in return.

belle, sorry if its off topic, but appreciate if you can point me to the appropriate document concerning duty spans using the different equipment. + requirements for Rural drivers etc.

Also things like, A cycle without panniers the 1st bag is 16kg..how does this tie in with a bike fitted with 2 panniers? Is the weight doubled to 32kg tray/panniers etc

CWU really needs to get all this info onto local CWU notice boards as neither the Posties nor Managers have a clue. Time for a Simple Engish campaign to eliminate doubt. Also it cuts out hours of searching websites for documents or those hidden in filing cabinets, even then can you be sure you have the appropriate text to hand..
Worse still no one seems to know which documents are actually current as it seems a mish mash refering from one to the other. Time we got this stuff out in the open so we know whats expected of us.

Pouch Weights
Must be monitored and adequately controlled – the maximum pouch weight is 16kg first
pouch, 2nd pouch must not weigh more than 16kg, 3rd pouch 12kg, 4th pouch 10kg, 5th
pouch 10kg and 6th pouch 8kg. However, the Max Pouch weights must be reduced if walking
up slopes greater than 1 in 12 to 8kg and reduced to a Max of 5kg if walking up slopes greater
than 1 in 8 or the delivery walk is one that predominantly goes up and down stairs etc. For
young people under 18 the maximum weight of a pouch must not exceed 10kg. Cycles
can only carry one pouch of 16kg max. Cycle panniers can only carry 8kg max each side.
REMEMBER: Follow the pouch weighing procedures and only carry one pouch at a time.
*Note: Some Areas have introduced an alternative, simplified Pouch Weight
arrangement as follows: The maximum pouch weight is 16kg first pouch and the
maximum weight of all following pouches must not weigh more than 11kg and such
arrangements can continue with the same monitored and adequate controls to avoid
excess weight being carried). REMEMBER/IMPORTANT: All weights are ‘Maximum Weights’
not ‘Target Weights’. Additionally, individual capability may also need to be considered
in certain cases when carrying out a Walk Risk Assessment.

Rural deliveries do have a longer delivery span 5 hours. i'm sorry i don't know anything about cycle deliveries none in our office bag wieghts or delivery spans, if the info your looking for is not in the link provided by True blue terrier, your best bet will proabable be to PM brothermagrew if either of them don't know you could be struggaling.

Then your only contracted to deliver for 3hrs 30mins first to last letter! and they can't make you work longer than that on delivery!
complian in writing and inform them in writing that you no longer intend to work any longer than 3hrs 30mins but it does mean that you have to come back to the office after once you've completed 3hrs 30mins. now i know thats much mucheasier said that done!!! but don't think theres any other way round it but to call there bluff.

listen there are guys on here from branch and divisional level far better informed than me! if your still unsure ask them to check the advice i have given you. i will PM the user names of 1 or 2 of them to you and you can PM them and ask them to have a quick look through the thread and say either yae or nae.

ps. i assume your rep has redgistered a disagreement on this???

It seems to be an agreement that's not set in stone.
Are you saying that it's been agreeed that no walk should take longer than 3 1/2 hours ?
What if yours does on a regualr basis , most days being 4 hours.
Can you ask for work to be taken off your walk , and dispersed into walks which are near to your own , which are much shorter walks ?
What if you've asked for this to be done, and your manager simply makes you promises that something will be done. I've been waiting for a few years.
