RM policy is simple DIVIDE AND CONQUER and for those out there who dont understand SIMPLE. Royal mail and there managers aren't interested in making THERE PEOPLE up to full time, they aren't interested in taking weight of the shoulder, they arent interested in protecting YOUR PENSION all they are interested in is MAKING MONEY = more money for RM more money for THE FAT CATS crappier n letdoon more bonuses for manager's, and what do Royal Mails "Our People" get sort quicker, walk faster work harder, what you gonna get for it nowt you should thank yer lucky stars you have a job. The National Policy on no savings is not about whether the deal suits a partiuclar office . Its about making sure we force Royal Mail to agree a National Agreement which protects full time jobs in the future whether thats in mail centres , distribution or deliveries.
I am sick and tired of Branch`s and members who complain about the union when they do nothing to carry out the National Policy. Most of these are in the blame game , blame everyone in oder to defelct the fact that they have done nothing to move this union forward.
In London we expect to ballot all 14000 of our members within the next couple of weeks as we are holding the line and not agreeing savings and if Royal Mail attempt to introduce a revison within any office without agreement we will ballot.
What I say to those offices who have agreed savings , I hope your proud of yourself , what have you gained from it apart from the fact that you have shown Royal Mail that your an easy target and like others have said Royal Mail love to take hours out of offices which give in and dont stand up for themselves.
For what it is worth the national policy is that no savings should be given until we have a national agreement on the future of deliveries , mail centres and distrubion.Every office which breaks that policy makes it easier for Royal Mail to introduce their slash and burn policy and makes it harder for the rest of us to get a national agreement.
Whatever you think of the pay and modernisation agreement RM managers opinion is "nothing has changed" "wheres the flexibility" "you got 9.5% pay rise and still ive got to agree with the rep before i can lapse" so for those out there who think HQ let us down RM mangers aint to happy with the deal either. IMHO RM see the P&M deal as a defeat and now they are trying to break the CWU threw divide and conquer tactics by picking on smaller weaker offices 1st then splitting the office part time versus full time with longer deliverys spans being the means for increasing F/T positions. Its an old saying but its stood the test of time "United we stand, Divided we fall" STAND UP AND BE COUNTED support the CWU
