1 hour contract, am i entitled to holiday pay?

About the same as you do in 37

Bearing in mind he has to have a 20 minute break so he's doing it in 40 minutes

i bet that the majority of those offered 1 hour contracts and who accepted them were told don't worry about the 1 hour you'll be doing more than that

Unless you are self-employed you are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weks times your usual working week from 1/04/2009 or 4.8 weeks before this date.

hmmmm all this is very confusing lol, dunno what to do next its not like they would owe me thousands it just makes me wanna quit the job, i applied for the job as it was initially advertised as 33 hrs contract, on interview i was asked if i would also be interested in a 1 hr contract if their wasn't sufficient 33 hr vacancies but also told that i would always get 20 plus hours, i was not told that in doing so i would not receive any paid leave. I was also been told by several managers that it wouldn't be long (-6 months) that i would be offered a permanent contract and get 33 hrs, i have not had my 6 month appraisal i believe i was told would happen. so basically i have been ill informed and until now coming up to Xmas have been getting 4 hrs on certain weeks and have had to temporarily goto different depots to try and earn a living.

I can see that in the future royal mail will struggle to find workers with their poor contracts 1 hrs/25 hrs no holiday pay no sickness pay no trust.

I wonder what my situation would be in if i was injured on a round, would they help me then>?

I'm sorry to tell you they are, as is your sick pay (after 12 months) and pension.

assumng you were employed during the qualifying period your bonuses will or should be, and your hols are

hi all again, having spoken to another one of my managers he also believes royal mail may be breaking the law in regards to holidays in 1 hr contracts, on the issue that any hour over the 1st hour being classed as overtime he says that this is in effect incorrect as i am not being paid a higher overtime rate, am going to speak to the citizens advice bureau about this but they are only open 2 hrs a day which is a shambles as much as royal mail is lol. My manager also said he will liase with HR if i wish to help in this matter, do anyone know of a specific person/address i could make my complaint to in writing? as i will enclose the department for work and pensions stated holidays by law with my letter, also i will request a payment of what i believe is owed to me.

Hi! tragictramp, You are entitled to 4.8 days annual leave. Please! click on the link below and use the calculator to work out how manys days you are entitled to or you can use the formula the website has provided. I would go back to the manager and human resources with this information I have given you from the website. Also if you are in the union go and see your branch secretary or phone him/her as soon as possible because you are being told wrong, it is unlawful not to give holidays to workers that have a contract, no matter how many hours they may work and you are only paid overtime rates after you have worked 40 hours. Please, get in contact with union so this can be sorted immediately they are seriously breaking the rules specified in the Working Time Regulations regarding holiday entitlements.

what figures have u put in to get 4.8 days mate? i put 1 hr in which gives 4.8 hrs but my weekly hours change every week.

Sorry it is 4.8 hours, I was working it out for days and not hours, please, go and see union, Citiizen Advice Bureau or ACAS.

cheers mate will contact cab etc, my brother in law is a criminal solicitor but believe he has an employment law partner in his firm, they are looking over my contract also, my problem is i average around 20 hrs a week since march and received no holidays, so do i have to toal all my hours and divide to get correct hours im entitled to ? lol, it appears that no one knows

Are your 20 hours overtime or contractual hours, if you work 20 hours over how many days this is also important for working out your holiday entitlement and yes,it would be helpful if you could look over your contract.
