soon just paying for union fees will tip us new starters under the min wage with the fees rising aswell and little to noting in return being a new starter and paying union fees is becoming a bad investment no reward just keeps getting worse

His excuse which is what he has used for the past few years is that he's deep in discussions with royal mail to what prevail what have we got in the past 3 years nothing is the answer.

yeah don`t blame the union lol for getting us shockingly low payrises that have brought us so close to min wage 2% this year when the min wage keeps rising at 4% every year
We got a 4% rise in 2023.

The "policy guide" states end of February. I am wondering if employees will miss out if they do not apply in time. I have applied for POAL, As advised in the letter I received, in an email to my line manager.

How to apply
The option to purchase additional holiday opens each year on the first Monday in October and remains open until the end of FEBRUARY
After February, no further changes can be accepted for the following holiday year.

Martin Walsh stated on this thread;
....."The purchase of annual leave will continue but for some it will not be able to be done through salary sacrifice. Instead it will be through another method of an individual paying for the additional annual leave they are purchasing."

When I requested POAL 10+ years ago, it was a very informal vocal request to a manager, which seemed a bit bizarre (expected some paperwork).

The deadline used to be end of Feb to start it the following tax year, iirc.

Surely these days POAL should be something requested and done completely through the app.

I’ve said this previously on here but I just reapplied at the start of the year and got my extra leave.

My 6 weeks are booked and on the app and have been granted.

I will be at 20 years service next year so I’m only paying for a few days.

No idea how it’s going to work for new contracts.
