Normally it's either you use a days annual leave or take a days unpaid leave.

They are, but they're considering record low numbers to save money.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025, 18:36If RM are expecting record levels of parcels perhaps they should consider record levels of staffing?
Just a thought.

I think we’re getting the “non service day” and Bank holidays mixed upthefox wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025, 07:04Dont think they did mate.A2B wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025, 18:48I didn't expect anything but seem to remember the last time this happened RM gave us the additional dayJefferson Starfish wrote: ↑01 Oct 2025, 18:39It's not a bank holiday or a replacement bank holiday. Next year, Boxing Day 26/12 falls on a Saturday, the bank holiday for this day is moved to the Monday 28/12, for the whole country. The last few times this happened, RM asked the Regulator to classify 26/12 as a Non Service Day, so we were off Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon.
The plus side was we got an extra day off for free. The down side was, if it was your rest day you got nothing, no extra day off. IIRC, this caused quite a bit of annoyance on here
As for this year, Sat 27/12 isn’t Boxing Day,isn’t a bank holiday, so us plebs will be working

I certainly remember getting an extra day and the arguments about the rest days. I guess with delivery working 7 days now it won't happen again

"Units may also enact the new terms
and conditions of employees that entered on or after 1 December 2022 to ensure the workload
on LAT is covered daily. The delivery of these items should normally be completed by 19:00
hours, however taking into account that this is our peak delivery period, delivery can be
extended up to 21:00 hours in weeks 35-39, but must be subject to the appropriate safety and
security risk assessments.”
New starters be aware.
I got out just in time.

If the rumours are true the late start/finish for new contracts is going to be the norm

Sickness will be up this xmas for sure. A lot of offices are around 25-30% staff down already so unless they get two people to two walks which won't happen then tracked and 1C off both duties will be virtually impossible.
In a nutshell this is probably going to be the worst Xmas on record at RM.

Parcel levels are outrageous as it is. We will need at least three times the staff to get things clear.

The document just mentioned the peak incentive scheme.
Sounds like we're gonna have the opportunity to get more money.

They tried this last year and the targets were ridiculous, only a handful of offices got it if I remember rightly.buchanpeter wrote: ↑03 Oct 2025, 00:35The document just mentioned the peak incentive scheme.

This seems to have been ongoing since the under staffing and enlargement of duties happened.buchanpeter wrote: ↑03 Oct 2025, 00:35The document just mentioned the peak incentive scheme.

They work off the assumption that the same people who vote through pay deals for the extra cash will hopefully work over and clear in the hope of getting more cash. All of which seems to be unachievable and nobody gets anything extra.
By the way i am not being critical of those who want the cash as that is up to them, merely stating how the company looks at it and how they sucker people in every xmas.

Re: Christmas/Peak arrangements 2025 LTB 214/25
As someone mentioned the £100 supplement has been static for years and hasn't reflected inflation nor the real strain of "peak". Any incentive scheme feels like smoke and mirrors when targets were set so high last time round that only a handful of units qualified which creates division and resentment rather than a genuine reward.
This year could well be RM's toughest Xmas on record and while our office has been busy recruiting even more staff, they still won't put any fixed duties in that they have promised so both the indoor and the outdoor workload has increased.
It's an odd business that continually relies on overtime (when it suits) but for many the only real power left is to pace yourself and not be suckered in by management's carrot and stick tactics.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
