Re: leaving the union
I left when I realised that we were literally ripping up our contracts for ten pieces of silver.

Re: leaving the union
Our area rep comes in and always says….. it’s the same everywhere , all he’s bothered about is his full release and going home at 2pm on a Friday

Re: leaving the union
Hard to disagree that the union have effectively very limited influence over the Royal Mail board of directors

Re: leaving the union
Probably true, but the union are still necessary for the more mundane events, like an interview with the IB knobheads or some half-witted manager.

Re: leaving the union
I can understand your frustrations at the poor performanvce of the CWU during the recent IAs, however I think you're being a little short sighted.
I recent practical example: A postie in a nearby DO was attacked by a dog running loose in the street. His calf was BADLY mauled, so much so that it nearly severed the tendon. In the past the CWU would have taken the owner to court, paying for the intial legal fees.
Unfortunately the injured Postie had left the Union literally weeks before (due to his frustration with the Yes vote). He would have had to fund his own Legal Costs to take the Owner to court. After a worrying period of indecision the Police eventually decided to procecute the owner.
I understand the postie is recovering well. This incident merely illustrates that perhaps there's a bigger picture to consider when thinking about leaving the Union. It's easy to cut your nose off to spite your face.

I came only agree with (BigRon62) I was paying into that shower of s**t for roughly the same amount of time, I had to do everything myself local reps are only looking after they're own interests ie in the office I used to work , no matter which person was elected to be the union rep there hours were m/f never a Saturday .

Some people just aren't big enough for the job I'm afraiddenowashere wrote: ↑20 Feb 2024, 12:42I had to do everything myself local reps are only looking after they're own interests ie in the office I used to work , no matter which person was elected to be the union rep there hours were m/f never a Saturday .
You can vote them out and choose a new rep, but it seems to be hard to do in some DOs. I don't know how they can look at themselves in the mirror TBH. But then they are set a Bad Example by the Incompetent Idiots in charge.
