Also, do we know whether the issue was the sharing of the van between two people only or
the van being used for an unauthorised journey as well? If the van is fitted with trimble then it's
easily proven.....

I think this is the same guy who had to go home after getting the COVID alert to self isolate, after coming into work whilst waiting on test result to come through, and because he wasnt allowed to take the van home with him had no way of getting home, so ended up jumping in van with a colleague.

The story is too similar to not be

If thats the case, then the real reason for being dismissed is not just van sharing but van sharing whilst being alerted to self isolate which really you can have no excuses or justification for

Well based on the facts in this post you're screwed and based on the apparent ease with which you slide into needless dishonesty it's probably just as well.

It amazes me in a job that let's be honest is pretty difficult to get sacked from people still manage to invent bizarre ways to do it.

I feel for the guy who took you home, although stupid he probably thought he was helping someone out of a difficult situation . You have to carry the guilt for that one because you put him in that position.
