This is not the time for leaving the union - might be for stopping the political levy on a personal basis but that's up to each individual.

I also think there has to be a national union debate about the Political Levy Fund and how it is disbursed - we cannot continue to support a Labour Government that has treated us with the disdain that this one has. They have got to be taught that if they want our money then there are strings attached and that doesn't mean peerages for union leaders. It means defending working class rights and actually dismantling the Thatcher anti-trade union legislation which is still on the statute books. I see one of the red-line opt-outs for the new EC treaty is that euro workers rights won't apply in Britain and we will be left with the Thatcher inspired legislation that Bottler Brown is so pleased with as it helps create a casulaised, part-time, minimum-wage, non-union workforce.

The only weapon we have against our employer - this government - is the UNION. OK the people at the top are shite - but it is up to us to change that. They have failed us in this agreement and I have little doubt that the agreement will be accepted on a ballot. I reckon we'll be lucky to get a 25-30 per cent NO VOTE. Most people will want any excuse to walk away from further action and why the hell should they put their faith in this union leadership again - the members know they have no backbone and are not to be trusted.

But the real fight has to start there - we must make sure that democracy is brought into this union - we have been shafted by our leadership who sh*t it. We were within 1/2 weeks of winning with the rolling strikes and what did we get - a frightened pair of negotiators who didn't want to upset Brown and the Labour Party. That then left the PEC members to be bullied into accepting the deal and trying to put a gloss on it and all the time they would be threatened that if they didn't vote for the deal it would destroy the union.

The people who have come closest to destroying our union is the leadership - they have to go as they are beoken arrows. We know it and they know it but worse - Royal Mail and the government know it.

There is now no real way forward unless we clear out the chicken-livered rot at the top of this union. So don't leave the union - fight to build and strengthen it and to make sure the leadership is representative of the aspirations of its membership. And after the way this leadership has shafted the members they better not come out with any crap about the ballot result justifying their sell-out - the ballot result will be because of their sell-out!

Well im sorry you feel that way i am a 'Real ' postie as you put it, my round gets the most mail in the whole office and my walk is 3.5 hrs long so what do you want

3 and a half hours is nothing - every round in my rural office is well over 4 and a half hours - now who has easyish jobs?

Got to agree with everyone on here, what a s**t deal,
TBH most of us could of done better, how are to get local deals when at a national level they agree crap like this. All the DOM's will say is 'take it as your leaders make shite deals'.

I'll be voting no, and having to listen to all the strike breakers saying 'I told you so', I'll be embarrassed to ask people in our office to go on strike again.

Sorry what the Fcuk have they done,locally agreed this locally agreed that. this is not
a national agreement they have taken the easy way out, all i can say is i hope you have a strong
local union rep otherwise you will get fcuked on all these issues.
Its a NO for me one of the shabbyest agreements i have ever read and i have read some bad agreements
in my 29 year's, come Boy's & Girl's we must throw this one out we really must.

I'll be voting no, just feel completely let down. Gained next to nothing for all the IA, looks like RM will get what they want through dodgy consultation exercises.
What the Fook do the PEC think they are doing. They called for strength and support, we gave it to them at great personal cost and they have just rolled over.

glad im leaving royal mail in december,but i will use my vote and go with the majority who reject this deal..i did not stay out for all the strikes just to shaft my m8s when i leave...

A usual agreement between RM and CWU that is full of grey areas which enable management to shaft the workforce.

Two of the biggest issue's (d2d and pensions) have just been swept under the carpet!!!

In six months time RM will come back with another business plan that will include d2d and pensions when it should have all been dealt with here and now!!!
