Unpaid breaks

Post by Townpostie »

Is it not about time the union at least pushed for new contacts to have paid breaks like the old contracts with dm26 if we now want any break at all we will be finishing beyond 6pm while old contracts with a paid breaks finish at just gone 5 just shocking really can't see how anyone would be willing to stay much longer under those terms.

Yes it needs bringing in line, how can you have two people working together with different finishing times, they could insist "legacy" contracts must take their full 40 min break as opposed to finishing on 20 minutes but that wouldn't cure the issue unless new contracts had to start 40 minutes early to compensate for taking their 40 minutes unpaid at the same time as their partner.

Easier all round to either give paid breaks to new contracts or remove them for everyone (with the obvious issues that would arise from that scenario)

We’ve got a list of new contracts at ours who go on IP for 40 minutes before our start time so that they finish at the same time as legacy contracts. With all of that free labour, they won’t be changing the newer contracts any time soon. Disgraceful but that’s how it is. :no no

That would work in theory hopefully they all stop working for 40 minutes daily for their breaks ?

We leave 20 minutes before our finish time, as a local agreement, we are allowed to.Up to them whether they take the other 20, they should do, but you can be sure some if not all don’t.
