When I was working in the PO we used to have to sign that we had seen the Gazette.
The Gazette showed relevant information about job vacancies changes in postage rates etc.
How do postmen and Women get this sort of information now to enable them to see available jobs and other things relating to their work?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The old Gazette was just about jobs available, price changes, etc and nothing like the Courier. It went when vacancies etc were advertised on IntraNet.="POSTMAN"]Propaganda times,or it's real name,The Courier.

You sure?
The Gazette used to be the regular Post Office internal vacancies monthly, nothing to with the London Gazette and not circulated outside the RM network.

Not - but then I thought the "Not Sure" was indicated by the question "is this what everyone is talking about."Tman wrote:You sure?

Re: Post Office Gazette
Hi,
The Post Office Gazette was the official Post Office weekly Publication which listed all important operational Matters and changes to rules, it also listed Jobs and Vacancies which were advertised internally.
I was the duty of every employee to make sure that they looked at it so they were up to date with issues in their area of work.
What has taken its place ? How do internal jobs get advertised ?

If it was a weekly thing it would be out of date by the time it was printed, RM change the goalposts daily.

Re: Post Office Gazette
As stated above the Post Office Gazette was an internal publication that advertised job vacancies and listed important Post Office information ie pay deal information but it no longer exists. If my memory serves me it even stated 'For Post Office Employees only' or something similar on the front and covered RM Letters, Parcelforce and the Post Office as well as group centre.
It wasnt anything to do with the Courier and was only distributed internally in the Mail Centres, DO's etc. Internal vacancies can now be viewed on the RM intranet as opposed to the internet and there is a search facility so that you can look for jobs in a certain area or distance. Hope this helps.

I remember the Gazette. The it went electronic-only and then ended. It ended about 5-7 years ago.
