Senior Shift Manager : PFW National Hub
In view of disappointing reports of poor loading standards recently, the National Hub have begun a networking exercise with our Depot colleagues. Each section manager is in the process of reaching out to each and every Depot under their stewardship, to build relationships and promote collaboration. We have had an excellent response and are now keen now to build on this to drive improvement where it's needed. Below are a couple of sanitised examples of what we've received back, warts and all......
It’s good to finally have someone from the hub who is showing an interest in the loading standards of our trailers.
I could give you many example of poorly loaded trailers, but also some very good examples.
In the main the trailers we receive are loaded to an acceptable standard, however there is very rarely a time when there is any tapering of the parcels to the rear of the trailer, meaning that on a regular basis we struggle to open the trailer door and even worse we have parcels falling out and hitting the person opening the trailer door.
WEN trailers and our 7.5 Tonne van seem to be a problem, they are loaded to the back door on a regular basis.
I’ll copy you in on any really badly loaded trailers going forwards.
PS: damaged parcels are also any issue, I believe the operative loading the trailers just drops the parcels to the floor instead of lowering the parcels, we end up with damaged parcels on the floor of the trailer and if there is liquid in the parcel then this leaks and cause damage to the surrounding parcels.

Morning
Since transitioning to double deck trailers at MK, loading standards are fantastic, we have had no issues whatsoever from all our inbound duties. I was surprised how good it has been and how much extra work you can get onto them safely.
My only one bug bare is when inbounds arrive with only a couple of 100 parcels on the bottom deck which could have easily gone onto the top deck, so you have to raise the top deck spend 5 minutes unloading the bottom deck to then lower the top deck down again. This is not a major issue it's just time consuming on the unloading process.
Overall though happy with how good everything has been
Thanks, its good to have a contact

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
