Moving to Parcel Force

Been on deliveries for over 10 years now ,and many years before I can officialy retire.
Rounds are going in 1 direction ,and thats bigger and longer.

The illness rate in our office since last revision is way above what it should be ,got another revision soon.

Whilst their are people in my office older than me and quite fit and able at present,the amount of guys with Orthopeditic problems is staggering (something the CWU should be investigating and see in if their are any common factors )

I am not sure that my body will be able to cope with ever increasing pounding of doing walking deliveries ,this is without the
Bully and harassment of RM Mangers,which whilst have no complaints at the present is ever present and you never know when you will get new Managers!
I see Parcelforce are expanding and seeking more staff and owner drivers,this on the surface would seem a attractive long term option as oppsed to a walking Postman.
Does anyone know what Parcel force is really like and what about owner drivers.I have a large mortgage so need security and good earnings.

It's not all doom and gloom. I do 1/2 8 till 6 mon-fri 40-50 drops a day. mostly rural and I love it. I was a postie back in the 90's and i know which job I prefer.

Just looked on Parcelforce website,
Employed drivers starting at £17000 all different shifts etc ( must be similar to a reserve )

Owner drivers EARNINGS OF £45000-£50000
I can beleive earnings ie the cheque Parcel force gives you at the end of year just say is around £45000.

Now you have to take out all your costs . Van under 3 Yyears painted in their colours

Priced it out on a brand new lease van 3 year contact , and £50.00 a day in fuel comes to £20000 before you have taken out tyres insurance cost of buying Pdq/scanner,other costs.

Reckon you would be lucky to work for minium wage at end of year after taking out costs,very lucky indeed .
