Re: SELF EMPLOYED COURIERS
The owner drivers at our depot start at around 6:30 - 7:00 am and finish at around 3:30- 4:00 pm. They get paid per drop, not by parcel. The owner drivers I talk to do anything from 80-120 drops a day and get from £1500-£2000 a month. From this you have to deduct fuel, troad tax, vehicle upkeep etc.... Also I believe you have to have a vehicle no older than 5 years.

Re: SELF EMPLOYED COURIERS
It's not a bad job once you are out of the depot. The reason alot of people don't want to be owner drivers is because they have to sort everything out themselves: insurance, tax, diesel, etc...... If their van breaks down they have to sort it. Being a PF driver you just go in, sort your run (takes about 20 mins) and go and deliver everything and do a few collections on your way round. We still get hassle from managers about taking more out etc.... but you just stand your ground and refuse if you know you can't do anymore.axeman wrote:If bussines was that good they would all be owner driver i'm sure...but if you want to work 24 /6 to earn a decent wage ?

Re: SELF EMPLOYED COURIERS
Parcel Force guy in my area wants out of the owner driver scene recons with all the 'extra' costs he needs to be delivering all his waking hours and he's had enough . And from what he says ALL the owner drivers want out at his depot they too are being short changed by 'royal fail' but there just what did you expect from the 'head barrow boy' and his greedy spiv friends........ :cfo

Do owner drivers have to arrange and cover the cost of reliefs when they are on leave or sick?smok3y666 wrote:The owner drivers at our depot start at around 6:30 - 7:00 am and finish at around 3:30- 4:00 pm.
