We had a night shift and early sorters, which they stopped because a lot were finishing their walks way before time. Now most are now cutting off.

Mail left in fittings for days, or taken out and returned undelivered.

You couldn't make it up.

Apparently we're one of the worst offices and are on the 'national radar'. :cuppa

That sounds like our office!

Working this way is a bit weird, its like the USO is not important anymore.

Most are sent out at least 2-3 weeks prior to any appointment and they're usually just written confirmation of an appointment that the patient was already aware of, so not really that disastrous if it gets delayed by a day or two.

if mail is delivered every other day why cant some OPs go out on delivery as soon as they get in delivering yesterdays mail. And when they return prep todays mail, freeing vans up for those who do the job as it would usually be carried out but allowing them to start later (9am, maybe)say rather than the 12pm starts and wait for van until 2ish.

regards

It does make sense but a large amount of tracked Mail would be left and the poor guy who starts later would have to deliver It.

An agreement could be met though, the first guy out could take more Untracked parcels of the second guy.

It would never work. OPs who go out on delivery first will probably start dragging it out to their finish time knowing that the posties who have come in later and who are waiting for a van will instead be asked to prep todays mail and packets....... And like someone said they will also be responsible for the Specials and delivering all the tracked items for the day, possibly for 2 duties if they are on a traditional van share route

The only way to prevent mail from getting delivered on every other day is to:

1. Pay out more overtime to get duties covered
2. Bring in more hire vans
3. Hire more staff

Royal Mail are very reluctant to do any of the three.
