I year thru a 2 year serious offence for a H@S issue , last week left a key in pillar box , no excuses but took a serious domestic phone call re wife , totally distracted me , lifted mail from box but forgot to remove key , key was recovered by another collection driver , any thoughts on repercussions re still 12 months of serious offence to run , cheers

If the key was recovered I don't see an issue its all something we have done before. As long as its only once....

Act daft, blame COVID say your heads all over the place, the lack of social distancing in the office was bothering you

No idea, but had that been me I'd have just took the key back and said no more. Maybe had a laugh with you about it the next day, but took it no further.
