Heard on the grapevine RM are in court today to beg for the USO to go to 5 days a week. Anyone heard anything?

I'm not sure why that should go to a court. The regulator would deal with that and then possibly parliament.

Another rumour to add to the list. It’s about time the union came out and gave us some sort of update to what the hell is going on.

I’m sure we will find out by Friday when the annual accounts are released.

It’s often the case whilst negotiations are going on they are conducted “in camera“ as part of the negotiation conditions. Then each team refer back to their particular bosses for approval. Then if a deal is approved then it is presented to the membership for ballot. If nothing is seen to be going on ,then something is going on , if the past is anything to go by.These things are generally protracted in their nature

Makes sense to go 5 day week with mail dying a death if it stops job losses? Can’t see union paying our wages if RM can’t afford to keep all the staff on

Defiantly needs to be 5 day operation on letters now mon-fri,
But parcels need to move to 7days to compete with the competitors.
It's the only way this great British company will survive,
And every Postie's around the UK knows this.
Let's build this great British company up again and work with the cwu and the new ceo.
It benefits all of the workforce

I totally agree, we just need to find a fair way of choosing who is working sat and sun, this should not be a seniority type thing, i favour a 3 or 4 on 3 or 4 off system.

I'm not sure how you 'sell' working on a Sunday to people though.

Well my ideal job within RM would be just working around 20 hours, sat & sun just doing pkts, then having mon-fri off.

So some of us would be more than happy to work weekends.

I think if letters went down to 5 days it'd be Mondays they axe, there'd be no need to have any mech staff in MCs or MPUs on Sunday rate

You would need a Later Start / Finish in the LAT Delivery Hubs
