will i go back on stage 1 warning?

had a 5 month absence this time last year so got a stage 1 warning. Went back to work, been clear for 8 months. Have now had a 7 day absence. I'm not sure if I go back on to a stage 1 for more than 14 days in a year, or because I went 8 months clear it means they only count my current absence? Anyone know? thanks.

With eight months clear I'm pretty sure the process resets and you won't get a stage unless you have a second absence in the next five months or so.

Hope you're right. got a feeling I might revert to a stage 1 though.

no, only 8 months have passed since the 5 month absence. got a feeling I'll be back on a stage 1. hopefully not a stage 2, as that really is a sticky situation.

Stage one clears after 6 months. You have only had 7 days so don't worry about it.

My original post, i deleted, did answer the question on whether you would go to stage 2. (I interpret a stage 2 would only be given if within 6 months of the stage 1 you had 2 absences or 10 days)

Introducing the new Attendance Agreement

Annex 1
Attendance standards The formal process consists of two reviews and consideration of dismissal.
The table below sets out the attendance standards required

All employees (except triallists)

Attendance review 1 prompt; 4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period

Attendance review 2 prompt; 2 absences or 10 days in the next 6 months following an attendance review 1 formal notification

Consideration of dismissal prompt; 2 absences or 10 days in the next 6 months following an attendance review 2 formal notification

Employees on 2nd review who do better than the standard required with no more than 1 absence of 4 days or less will come off the formal attendance process.

Employees on 2nd review with 1 absence of more than 4 days but less than ten will revert to 1st review and will remain on Review 1 for six months.

Employees who are on attendance review 2 and do not meet the attendance standards may be considered for dismissal. If they are not dismissed they may be issued with a new attendance review 2.

yes his stage one is clear after 6 months but any outstanding absences still 'valid' will count towards any further absences. stage 1s are triggered for 14 days in ANY 12 MONTH period. his 5 month absence is STILL pending because its less than 12 months. so now he has just added 7 days to that 5 month absence. it will re-trigger his stage and it will be re-issued. this is where people slip up.

Just been through this situation CPTNemoUkk is correct once you serve your 6 months you are back to zero again and nothing previous counts!!!!

wrong. that's from a stage 2. and its only if you have less than 4 days off, if you have more then you revert to a stage 1 from a stage 2.

I may be wrong on this, but if it's for the same illness/condition it's classed as 1 absence and doesn't trigger a stage?

Sorry if I have been mistaken but I wasn't at a stage 2 level I was at stage 1 and HR didn't send anything to my manager. I was only off for 2 days tho.

they tend to issue them for ANYTHING now. mitigation is now practically non existent. illness for the same condition is usually not counted if you come under the equality act (disability) or if it gets to a stage 3 RTU.

if it hasn't been issued then your total is less than 14 days or 4 absences, so they can't. make sure you know how many absences you've had in the last 12 months cos this is where people slip up.
