A big thank you to all that voted "yes".
I have been told today that we are to lose 6 duties, 3 walks and 3 driving duties, under that new way forward, all worked out I might add by pegasus.
It might not sound much to you all, but we only have 6 driving duties and 21 walks.
I have been told after 6 years of driving that I will lose my driving duty and possibly be moved to another office due to a re-pick.
So thanks everybody who voted yes, I hope the £175.00 went a long way. Because I will lose my driving allownance of £25.00 per week, my collections SA once a week (5 hours). So basically the yes vote has cost me in the region of £3900.00 per year.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear that mate, in my area the mis-sort run as just been put back by half hour with out any agreement with the cwu.
And in my office they are forcing a postie to go get the mis-sorts and it's not on his duty
I know it's not in the same league as your problems, but it's the tip of the ice-berg..
Sorry again mate and happy new year to all the YES voters

I realise that you are experiencing change but the changes have to be negotiated and agreed - so who has agreed?greynut wrote:I have been told today that we are to lose 6 duties, 3 walks and 3 driving duties, under that new way forward, all worked out I might add by pegasus.

You should not lose your driving allowance as you should receive it if you are not responsible for losing the duty. You should also be aware that there are certain criteria that now comes in to play on a re-pick - if your duty has not changed then you can make application that it should not be included in the repick.

sounds to me that if ur loosing all those dutys in such a small office you lot must of had it easy for the last few years the geo route is a good tool if used properly without knowing the % of delivery points i cant work out your office but if its used as agreed by the union its a fair way of making up dutys we have in here in south wales and we had 1 duty put back in and 3 dutys made back up to full time so i cant see how you lot have lost so many jobs unless the walks were all really easy before

Let me make myself clearer.wakkono wrote:sounds to me that if ur loosing all those dutys in such a small office you lot must of had it easy for the last few years the geo route is a good tool if used properly without knowing the % of delivery points i cant work out your office but if its used as agreed by the union its a fair way of making up dutys we have in here in south wales and we had 1 duty put back in and 3 dutys made back up to full time so i cant see how you lot have lost so many jobs unless the walks were all really easy before
The 3 walks have been absorbed into others, so all walks have been totally re-structured. The driving duties are changed as follows, one late duty has been moved to another office. The other two have totally gone. The remaining three have been re-structured as follows. One will take all pouches out and deliver hand to hand to all posties. The other will now take all packets only (like parcel force) and the third will deliver to businesses, schools and then have to deliver 50% of one of the walks that was cut.
This leaves three drivers without a driving duty and no we didn t have it easy, thanks. These duties we re-structured by mangement no more than 3 years ago. Packets are up by 40% and mailsort is up leaps and bounds. You tell me where the logic is in all this.

This has nothing to do with anyone who may have voted YES in any agreement. Anyone with their eyes opens knows that RM have been making these slashing cuts for 2-3yrs now. Better than sitting back would be for your rep to register disagreement, and your office to get right behind the rep. Most Area Reps have now had / are about to have the georoute training so they should be passing this knowledge onto the local reps and offices.greynut wrote:Let me make myself clearer.wakkono wrote:sounds to me that if ur loosing all those dutys in such a small office you lot must of had it easy for the last few years the geo route is a good tool if used properly without knowing the % of delivery points i cant work out your office but if its used as agreed by the union its a fair way of making up dutys we have in here in south wales and we had 1 duty put back in and 3 dutys made back up to full time so i cant see how you lot have lost so many jobs unless the walks were all really easy before

Who did you blame last year when RM made cuts?

thank you for the backup lovejoy
my point was that if used correctly geo route is an effective tool in timing walks
the only time a problem happens usually it is when royal mail changes the % rates of deliveries and or walk speed
as lovejoy states all cwu reps should have been all trained on using geo (here in wales they were all trained months ago ) so if they have any problems they can go to disagreement over it
just for the record i voted no

I attended a meeting a few weeks ago and was told that Pegasus/Geo was still not a nationally agreed work tool, and that it was due to problems with reaching agreement on call rates and walk speeds. So how was an agreement reached on reducing hours if Pegasus/Geo is un-agreed?
On a side note. The managers at the meeting would not give any assurances that we would increase office hours and not remove them, if after using Pegasus/Geo to re-evaluate the walks and they were found to be excessive.

I still go to work at 7am and finish at 1pm five days per week and I do what they tell me while I'm there. Nothing more, nothing less.
We have taken on approx. 10 new starters in the past 6 months so while jobs may be going in some places it would appear that they are not just making wild cuts but putting the hours where they are needed (as far as they know)

If you read my first post, I have said that the walks have been absorbed. So a few posties will have maybe an extra 15-20 minutes added to thier walk. Does geo route help get back the 3 driving duties ?? Help me understand your lethargic and matter of fact approach to duties being cut and 6 years of doing my job driving counting for nothing.wakkono wrote:thank you for the backup lovejoy

Are you seriously suggesting that the EVR or redundancy is looking on the bright side of life.dvbuk55 wrote:Greynut - don't be so negative - maybe you can get EVR or buy down or redundancy - always look on the bright side of life. TBH the fact that management restructured the duties 3 years ago means nothing.
Amazing quote.

The major point is what are you, your office and your rep doing about it? Any changes to duties must be negotiated and thus gives you all the chance to influence things. The next step really is to judge what if anything your representative is doing about all this!greynut wrote:If you read my first post, I have said that the walks have been absorbed.
