Mail volumes falling ? NOT !
Look at this mail packaging site.....At a time when we're being told there's less mail (-2%) our office traffic is up 6% on last year and this site says that RM traffic is UP 17% !!!

i dont know where they get thier figures from but the reason bosses are saying mail has falling is because they predicted that it would.
and this gives them the excuse to implement summer cover duties..
in our office we are now doing an 1hr 30 mins asap on top of our new extended duties and now they want us to do summer cover aswell..
christ knows where the bosses think we can find the time to do this.
but as they predicted mail is dropping in the summer so we can..
these bosses are so out of touch with what actually goes on in the offices it scary.

I wonder if Adam and Al have ever done a walk for a week - following their rules - so they know what its like in the real world. All they seem to want to do is live in cloud corporate land, by bashing us when it good for their vision, and occasionally talking us up when they can see something in it for them.
I think their agenda is eventual total privatisation which means loss of job security, wages going down (probably meet the minimum wage on the way) long walks, no pension, or one not worth the paper its written on. For the customer, no USO and paying to get it delivered to their address and loads more junk mail. It will only be the corporate customers who will win if we don't make a stand now.

thats all well and good making a stand, but with a union as spineless as ours and in our office seems to agree things on our behalf without any ballot or even a meeting how can we possibly make any kind of stand..TrueBlueTerrier wrote:I wonder if Adam and Al have ever done a walk for a week - following their rules - so they know what its like in the real world. the union does not want to know..
in our case, weve had a union meeting and they basically that if we were to make a stand ie work to rule etc we would have to do it off our own backs..
1 of our reps has already been voted out on a no confidence vote because he agreed something with our dom withouht us even knowing until it was too late..
i have no faith in our unions what so ever and if i could change to another union i would.

thats all well and good being a rep, maybe in a few years if im still working there i might.cjp wrote:Hello Meweavy! Perhaps it's time to have a go a Repping yourself, you might be surprised at how much support you get if you're honest and speak your mind to your members and let them tell you what decisions to make instead of dictating to them as some reps do?![]()

but you still have to answer to the rep who,s hight up in the food chain so to speak.
and ive heard these reps at meetings and the shite they come out with.
i dont think i could work with someone like that..
they seem to be scared of management i my opinion.

It doesnt matter how long youve been in the job meweavy, if youve got what it takes then go for it mate, people respect honesty even if sometimes they dont agree, there have been reps in the past and probably now who are only in it for themselves, but there are some that would give any of these slack jawed arse licking managers a good run for their money.
P.S If Tommymac became our office rep we would have to widen the door frame and get bigger chairs

like i said if im still there in a few years i might go for it.but you still have to answer to the union no matter how strong youre opinions are.
i could shout from the rooftops about how s**t we are being treated but if i was a rep i would still have to get the unions backing to get things done if push came to shove..
can you see this union doing that...

meweavy, other reps in other offices you don't have to worry about, what's your area rep like?or your branch dudes.
If it's that bad then contact head office.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

As for the mail volumes falling thing, the link points to a machine that wraps magazines and bulky stuff like that,so if the volume has gone up so has the f***ing weight.
We all know that it's true cause we take out the s**t,so f**k off with your bollox stats RM!!!
