Empty Recorded Delivery Envelope

Post by Lounge Lizard »

This morning I got a signature for a very thin Recorded Delivery envelope and a couple of minutes later was approached by the recipient who said that the envelope had been empty, there was NO suspicion of it being opened in the post, she had not been expecting it and she didn't recognise the address on the back - a complete mystery. I have since thought that on the signature card is a mention in small print that signatures may appear on the Royal Mail website, so might this be a way by which criminals obtain peoples signatures for fraudulent purposes ? Or do I have too much of a suspicious mind and might there be another explanation ?

There is no address on the card and only the signature appears.

But the sender would know which address they sent it to so it would be possible to marry the 2 ---- ?????

I suppose that would be possible but not likely - more likely they'd forgotten to put the item in the envelope. It might be worth trying it to see if it works.

You "somehow" obtain a blank (unsigned) credit card... you then have the address... as it normally has the address.

You send a RD... it gets posted on the RM website.. you copy it..

Perfect eh!

And publishing peoples signatures is sooooooo against Data Protection it is unreal.... even with that little bit, that most on here may not have noticed in pale red writing.... that says it will be published... it still aint right, cos it's electronically stored Data without express signed permission. Fuckwits are open to all sorts of claims.

Simple as.

Don't forget that we are only obliged to obtain ANY signature at the address - we don't have to have the addressee's. I probably only get 30% of RD's signed for by the name on the envelope - it's usually other family members.
