strike breakers.
Nasty word.
But what is your take on this, what action by someone would you call scabbing.
Crossing a picket line, probably yes, doing docket when there is a ban on,yes again.
Guys on the Vans have you got anything like that going on.
On Tuesday when we go on the vans there is a couple of peeps in our office that will be picking up overtime.
The same two that are doing it now at the lower rate.
Lates have refused to come in to cover the 2 extra vans bought in,top guys.
My question is,if these 2 pick up another duty, which i think they will as they were throwing mailsort in another walk today would that be scabbing?
And if they pick up say a few bundles from a few walks that are being left by us is that scabbing as well?
My take on this is yes, they are scabbing,we are going on the vans for a reason, and if peeps are picking up docket that only demeans our cause, makes it easier for the stuff to be covered.
We've already refused to do the nights SA which was why we're on a week early,as the nights were pulled from us a week early after we told them we wouldn't be doing it in 2 weeks time.
Interested in your thoughts and if any guys 'on the vans' do docket or others in their place do.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Postman you are correct how can you show management that if the job is done properly by i.e going on the vans, not helping management by doing extra duties, overtime and generaly showing them that there is no time to be taken out of the office if the job is done properly, then effectivly those two postmen are helping managers to get the job done, unless people realise that we all would like to carry on doing overtime but sometimes you have to step back and realise theres a bigger issue at stake, these sort of people are at every office and in my eyes are selfish, we all have to stick together, but great respect for your office for stepping up to the plate and being counted. UNITY IS STRENGTH.

depends on the deal in this case, the best way to get anything done these days is to make it as expensive as possible,if in times of trouble staff charge outstanding amounts to do docket as i do sometimes then this reflects badly on managers and increases the chance of getting something done, however if you are on a approved work to rule and only a few people break this for their own need then yes they are stills,as in still strike breakers but you are not supposed to use that word anymore, unfortunatly you do get people who expect to get paid and proffit through disputes and still reap the rewards,i have often thought that since only union members make the sacrifice then only members rites should be negotiated for leaving the rests fate up to rm

I know decent people who would never scab in their life but try to understand or even make an excuse for the ones that do!
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, RUINING YOUR JOB ,YOUR LIVELIHOOD AND YOUR FAMILIES, THEY DON'T GIVE A TOSS ABOUT YOU BUT TRY TO LOOK FOR SYMPATHY BY SAYING THEY'VE GOT MORE PROBLEMS THAN YOU!, AS THEY BOOK THEIR HOLIDAYS ABROAD AND BUY THEIR CARS AND HOME IMPROVEMENTS.
BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY FOR TREASON

In my opinion they are "stills" and as they will be gaining when you are loosing the should be sent to Coventry
or blackballed. However I don't think anything else should happen to them.
I have heard on instances in my office when people would, on purpose missort the mail on somebodies frame to give them as much grief as possible. I think they should be treated professionally but given no assistance and not treated like a mate. In other words if they want to give you a few quid to finish their duty say No
. If they want to cut off none one covers it.
The idea about them not getting the benefits after the IA not sure how it would be implemented.

With reference to the 1st comment on this thread by Postman (sorry I don't know how you add the quote bit) about "on the vans and OT" we at Burslem combined the van use with the OT ban so it was very clear and was agreed in a meeting so no one did any for 17 weeks. We lifted the OT ban recently (2 weeks ago whilst we were in a slight limbo situation) but have still stayed on the vans, again this was agreed in a meeting so there have been no repercusions against the people that now do OT. Having said that the OT take up by members is minimal as people have got used to living within their means and now don't want it especially with the current climate locally and nationally. Back to the point ,if you've agreed to use the vans and not do OT then quite simply they are strike breakers if they do it but if it was just an agreement on van use with no mention of an OT ban then personally (even though it's a bit annoying) I couldn't hold it against them.
Nice to see that this is spreading around the country a bit and I hope that you find it as effective as we have
ps just like to add my comment to the others that I've seen. well done with the site and hope the Queen honours you shortly

Ok,when the OT amount changed to 6 hrs instead of 8 they we're asked by the rep not to do it out of principle, but it was ignored, obviously they can't be forced not to do it.
It's a guy and a gal btw.
They along with us have been involved in all the meetings we've had, only today the rep mentioned that the lates will not be picking up the OT on the two extra vans bought in.
And the other day that we would not be picking up nights on SA hence where we are now.
There has been enough talk of not picking anything up,yet they are still grabbing.
I don't expect too much uproar on Tues except maybe the rep trying to force them on the IPS which probably wont happen as they are the lino's blue eyed guys.
But i will have no time for them and i'll tell them so.
While budgets may go up because of our action, certain parts of stuff going on will be made easier, which isn't what we want.
KawasakiKid,the same above would apply to you guys,by getting bods instead of cutting off claiming makes it easier for them.
It's very easy to record what work is left ect but i see your point,it's a tough one, personally i'd let them sort the s**t out and later on point out what was left and by who and how many times ect.
cjp and others lately thanks for your kind comments, missus is picking a hat on ebay
Was wondering how you guys were dealing with your docket as well cheers,i wouldn't expect a life time ban on OT,but while heavy s**t is going it should stop.

One of the advantages that RM have over it's workforce is that it's managers are organised as a group and can see the big picture. Individual Reps although they have a command structure to refer to sometimes have to play it by ear also every unit has local ways of working. Our Rep has reacted to each situation on instinct because of the way our office works. So far we are holding it together although there are some selfish types who want special treatment we are supporting his desicions as he explains his reasons for making them.

Kawasaki Kid - fat chance - split office - no union presence of any significance for many years - seniority ignored, loads of bullying and harassment.............I just like to dream..........most of the fools here will still be in hours early, running around their deliveries and sucking up to the plods...........KawasakiKid wrote:wranglered wrote:An emotive word for emotive times.
