How will you vote?
With the 'leaked' news that Labour plan to renationalise public services including Royal Mail if they win on June 8th, I wondered if that would have swayed a few people on how they'd vote.
I've set up a poll which is totally anonymous but feel free to comment if you so wish.
Apologies if this has been done elsewhere - I haven't seen it.

Would take more than renationalising RM for me to vote labour! All they are doing is spouting out promises they can never afford to complete. Scrapping student fees that THEY introduced in the first place, building a million new homes, removing the wage rise cap for nurses, renationalising the Railways and RM and all the money is going to be pulled out of a magic hat!
Of course they could always double all our taxes to pay for it that sounds appealing doesn't it?!

No - they said Taxes for those earning less than £80k would not be increased. Their other tax policies and crack down on Tax avoidance and evasion would pay for it all. Also, the Million new homes have to be built by someone so there is more tax revenue right there. Wage rises for nurses mean even more tax being paid, and more spending power to help the economy. On the Railways, the current subsidies paid to foreign franchises would go, saving yet more money £3.8 Billion on 2015 figures.Judgee wrote:Would take more than renationalising RM for me to vote labour! People are saying we should be out of Europe, but seem to accept without a murmur the subsidies we are paying to the French, German and Dutch National Rail Systems, which won't stop after Brexit because its nothing to do with the EU.

TBT they wouldn't raise anywhere near enough just taxing those earning over 80k. The tax on building the homes and increasing nurses wages would be insignificant to the cost of build a million homes (although only about £3.50 according to Diane Abbot!
) Their economics are completely floored that's why they doubled the national debt in the last few years in power last time. Don't get me wrong I'd love a million new homes, more money for nurses, etc but the figures really do not add up they never do!

Britain’s Privatised Rail Network Makes Millions For Foreign State-Owned Train Companies
What a grotesque state of affairs the Conservatives have got us into. And this is the party of sound economic management ??
Its not so much that we can't afford to own our own infrastructure - we can't afford not to. Ask the Germans.

A nation has so much wealth. It also produces so much wealth. The real question is - how will that wealth be distributed amongst the citizens of that nation ?Judgee wrote:TBT they wouldn't raise anywhere near enough just taxing those earning over 80k. Labour is for the many not the few.
Why are you, presumably as a working man, arguing in favour of wealth going to the few ?

In your opinion Labour is for the many. In my opinion as I have already mentioned I doubt their ability to fund it in the manner in which they propose! Never argued in favour of wealth going to the few that's just your incorrect/chosen interpretation of my opinion! Labour are making promises that could totally devastate the economy and ultimately lead to massive tax rises not just for the wealthy but for all despite their promises. I feel the Tories, although not perfect by any means, at least have a more realistic view on finance.jetblack wrote:A nation has so much wealth. It also produces so much wealth.
