[/quote
for me it has to be batteries, for my then ancient mp3 player..i have a new one now that doesnt take batteries...so no need for that tip anymore..also i got a xmas tip...a bottle of wine..that was giving to me at the end of january.as they had been away..]
does anybody have any posties at thier place .who puts a christmas card in every door of thier dutiy in order to get a tip?
there is 1 guy at our place who puts cards in every drop and even puts the time when he is on delivery so they can catch him...
fair play though in a way, i couldnt do it but he made himself over £400 last year..

I used to do that when I was a paperboy. I used to get on average about £1.50 per customer, but that was about 15 years ago, so probably about £2.50 in todays prices. I used to collect the paper bill money as well from the customers, so all the customers saw me on a regular basis anyway.

a postie in one of our sub offices did that one year just like Santa he got the sack.
we have one guy who has done his round for 20+ years.
all old folks in a decent area.he keeps quiet about tips but ive heard believable rumours it could be heading towards £1k
however he's out for hours as he talks to all the old biddies etc last xmas i did a van run after my foot delivery and he was out nearly 3 hours after i finished my duty and with 20 years seniority his is a very good duty

No,but we've got a guy who knocks on every door on his walk over christmas and asks"have you been happy with your service this year?" and then just stands there looking at them expectantly
every year i do santa for the week running in to christmas..my customers love it,they come out with thier kids and take photo's with me,i also 'deliver' presents to some of them.(the parents give me the gifts the day before xmas eve)i love all aspects of christmas and humbug to anyone who doesn't!! strangest tip i ever got was a wrapped present with a bow and ribbon the whole nine yards..opened it...A bottle of BRUT 33!!!!! oh and last year i got a jar of home made loganberry jam??
delivered a packet at one house and the old biddy said "wait here postie, I have something for you for Christmas". Waited an age until she returned with a small leaflet informing me that God loved me.
