Mail Centere guys!!

Post by POSTMAN »

Lets hear from you lot, what's happening in your places.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

nothing much happening down south, quite busy in the afternoons but sadly not enough people to clear the work ready for the evening rush

I found it hard to adjust to the pace of working in a MC.

Post by L Tommo »

Working on Delv is a world apart from a MC. It shouldnt be but it is!!Maybe i shouldnt say this but "U mark time in a MC." Delv's U make your own.. (IF YOU CAN)??? I loved the CRAIC with posties and customers alike On Delv. Joe n Joanna Public are the funnyest and worst to work for at times!! But working ofr yourself (when your on the walk) Is Superb!!! :Very Happy ..

MC life seems to be do your job as in do as much as u can and leave wot you can.. In general.. The work ethic is knocked out of you by DICKHEAD screws who think Everything they say is golden and for us to not ask y but "how hi shall we jump SIR/ MAAM." Treat us like kids and you get just that!
SHAME!!
Rightly or wrongly we had JOB N KNOCK on the early shift in our office. Brokered very well and put in to practice. Worked a dream, But we could of held up a bit as we tore round and in theory CUT THE JOB UP.. We took our breaks, we did work to H&S regs. But we worked like trojans as a screw once said! Mech Bag openening Duty.. 10 of us.. The rest of the office didnt want to work as hard. In my opinion.. Hard but still my opinion..

We worked until we hit our figures, EVERYDAY we hit it.. Over most.. Everything was rosey with our GUVNOR!!! (not screw) Weak but a good guy..  . Then New broom sweeps clean and WHOLLOP!!! NEW SCREW FECKS IT UP FOR ALL.. H&B cases go thru the roof
Work flow and prod drops.. NO  THERE!! And jobs fecked from RM screws as these people MUST OF HAD!!!! The nod from the top to upset
the apple cart, as WE were hitting above our EP buy miles and if we had a AREA EP would of doubled our wages easy!!! Catch 22 did cut the job up! :d'oh! :d'oh! This is why we should Never trust the screws and ALWAYS WORK TO YOUR 318.. Lessons to be learnt by ME and most i think...???

OUT

It IS fecking boring!!! This is Why We worked our knackers off and wanted to get out Quick smart!! Done our work n off home!!

Just dont work tho, Took me 5 years to learn! :d'oh! Job n knock like when on a walk is Heaven compared!! I had a WALKERS WAY OF WORKING..
Get in sort up, lay in, bundle up n out!!! Loved it , But the weights and amounts got more and more.. The bank balance wernt doing well and my back was playing up, (still is) (torn ligaments in ankles) But funny enough FIT AS A FLEE!! Now over weight, Beer belly admitted..FIT 2 DROP. In a MC So what do u do??? Ive had some great larfs in both as well.. The D.O. was Mental, Fights, singing, farts, n hangovers.. Then the banter was the best, Some would say outrageous , some hilarious, But what ever it was for me, It was a great learning basis to get on with all sorts. Much like the boys in here who have been in the forces!! We bonded thru Sports n Soc. Long gone now In East London.. RM just dont want it anymore!! And the posties aint got the time either.. Shame...

OUT

MC MASSIVE. D.O. IN MY HEART.. :Very Happy

As L Tommo said about marking time, it is the same crap different day syndrome.
There is definetly a "watching the clock" mentalty or "how long have i got left" kinda thing.
If you are working with a good crew, the time flies by and you can have a good laugh.
Union reps are usually kept busier as there are constant arguements between staff and different Line Managers trying underhand tactics to clear mail.
The shift manager generally walks around thinking he/she is God and sticking his nose in things he/she doesnt understand.

On the plus side, we dont get wet or cold, we dont have to worry about abuse from the public or such stupidity as, "postman! why is my mail wet?" when it is peeing down!! Toilets, food and drinks are always nearby and the work load is never too heavy as there are plenty of staff to shift it.

Ballot paper

Post by bedfontbob »

Good Morning Postman,
Just got in after my ist night back at work after a long awaited holiday (half term),
We at HWDC have not had our Ballot Papers through. I called Union HO yesterday (Mon) to see what was happening with them the extension I was put through to was 222, there was no answer but I left a message letting them know who I was and why I was ringing them and left them my telephone number and asked them to call me back but they never called.
The papaers have to be back by this Wednesday and I saw one of the Union officials at work when I went in and they said that we will be getting the papers by this Friday and that our votes will still count in the final count.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I thought all Ballot papers went direct to the members home address. Strange.

Just been told today that 2 members in my office did not receive Ballot papers and 2 in a office near us. They had received all the CWU mailings but not the most important one. Strange.
