Do we all work for the same company??

Post by theargyspy »

Reading through various threads on here and having never worked in any other sorting office than the one I do now for
last 22 years am amazed at the different ways we all work,I assumed (wrongly) that the time i start work, the way I run my walk in,
the sorting, delivering, etc was standard across the whole country, I also thought if the great DOM in the sky picked me up and dropped
me in a completely different part of the UK in a delivery office I would know what to do to prepare a walk to take out and barring local
knowledge of the area i would be able to do the walk......but now the more topics on here i read the more i realize how completely f****d up
the company actually is,would it not be beyond RM to look at the best way of working across the country and bring in a standard for things
like delivery of specials, delivery of 9am specials, how many times we have to attempt to redeliver a N/L packet before the customer has to
get of his/her fat arse and come at pick it up,procedures for cutting off, etc ? or perhaps i have been duped for last 22 years and every other
office in country is doing it one way and mine is taking the piss :mad

Argy the basics are the same for all of us deliver peoples mail to there house once a day ,six days a week it cant be that hard can it?Its what you do locally in an office that suits the office best ,thats where a rep comes in and negotiates a deal for the membership which is best for them and the customers.Do you have a unit rep if not get on to your area rep and tell them things dont seem right in your office. If you say nothing management will s**t on you all the time.

Johnny's right, most of the stuff is standard but screws will try and bend things if you're not on the ball.
But a few things you've mentioned.

9am reg:Walkers should not really be doing them, why you are is beyond me,what you mentioned in the other thread is just plain crazy, you guys need to get that sorted.

Re delivers:I know for a fact it's 3 times,3 times a 739 thing,3 times a time lock thing,and any other things like that,3 times,then whoooosh it gets sent back.

Cutting of shite is in the other thread thats fairly basic.

But it is strange how we're all the same yet different
TBH I didn't know most of you guys started at 5

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
