R N L I
Many of us will this week have delivered RNLI catalogues on the wrapper of which the lifeboat charity proudly announces that because of the postal strikes it will be using another courier to ensure that everyone gets their orders in time. This reminded me that we all have choices throughout life, and I have decided that I shall no longer support the RNLI and instead give what hard-earned money I can spare to other charities instead. I expect that many other postal workers and their friends and families will be doing the same.

Sorry I am a Lifeboat volunteer and its all about whats best for the customer, if the customer thinks twice because they are not sure the item will get through then they will not order. I am still waiting for packets sent over 2 weeks ago. Just hope your never in need of a lifeboat due to a Plane ditching in the sea, a ferry broken down or sinks etc etc.

no question for me, i will continue to support them. unlike the firebrigade and nurses they are funding solely on donations, if they cannot send packets out they wont get any revenue so therefore cannot save lives.
they weren`t the only company to put similar on their mail, the thing i find ironic about is that we still got to post it out to people.

We'll probably still have to deliver them though, eh?

wot bloody planet are you on i cant think of one air craft investigation ( top programme) where any life has been found at sea after a plane crash. certainley not in britain. as for a ferry broken down jesus christ man i live on the iow the only way to get here is by ferry. 100 smackeroos for a return ticket when they break down which is not often you lot do not show up. we sit there for hours till the damned thing is fixed. and what has my sink gotta do with anything!!!! oh i see when it sinks in the solent i will start to pray that it does. the ferries are awful we could do with some new ones. anyway can you fit my car luggage wife and 3 kids on your little inflatable? no then shut up. whats best for the customer is a postal service in the public sector for the public. not some torn apart privatised load of crap that dumb and dumber are trying to dosuperman wrote:Sorry I am a Lifeboat volunteer and its all about whats best for the customer, if the customer thinks twice because they are not sure the item will get through then they will not order. Well said. Everyone in the country noticed when us postal workers were on strike for nearly a week, but it's doubtful if anyone would notice if the RNLI had a week off - I can't even remember the last time I heard of them dragging seafarers out of a shipwreck.iow1 wrote:wot bloody planet are you on i cant think of one air craft investigation ( top programme) where any life has been found at sea after a plane crash. certainley not in britain. as for a ferry broken down jesus christ man i live on the iow the only way to get here is by ferry. I have no problem with supporting the RNLI whatsoever. As stated, they rely solely on donations and whatever tat they can sell.
Now, who is up for ditching their Lloyds bank account or Sky Tv system? These money grabbing bastids didnt think twice about ditching RM to save a penny!

Re: .
Whether I might need the RNLI or not has nothing to do with the extent to which I have supported them, and I often realise who has suffered what affliction or illness by the charity their relatives raise money for, so many people only hear of or realise the work a particular charity does when someone close to them benefits from it.superman wrote:Sorry I am a Lifeboat volunteer and its all about whats best for the customer, if the customer thinks twice because they are not sure the item will get through then they will not order. Apart from which I don't use planes, and about the only ferry I've been on is across the Mersey, and I've not seen the RNLI waiting about in case that develops engine trouble !
