Please no more 'why are we not informed '

Post by felang13 »

Theres a reason the PEC don't keep you informed ..1.the parameteres are always changing ,so whats right one min is wrong the next and 2.the union could not risk unofficial industrial action due to information or disinformation leaked to the membership ,so please bear with the Executive they are on your side

These are the union's words not mine!
They promised the update and did not deliver.
No one is asking for a blow by blow account. but neither do they want to be kept completly in the dark as well.

I guess you can tell from my postings, basically if the deal is rubbish i just want them to reject it quickly and get back to i/a.

I would rather them reject a bad deal then accept one because they think we have reached the end of the road.

In my opinion i think the debate in the pec is spilit between two camps.

camp one) The Dave Ward and Hayes camp.
This is just my summising!
This camps view: Gordon the bruiser is learning heavy and is not going to intervene in the dispute, so lets take what we can get.

Camp two)We have got them on the ropes and Christmas is approaching lets hold out. :Applause

All of the above is just my thoughts and may not in any way reflect the truth!

I wouldn`t mind if the program of rolling strikes had continued in the meantime, at least we would be continuing to put pressure on RM and actually doing something. To call off the strikes, suggesting a deal is almost done, then telling us f**k all for a week is completely unacceptable and alienating the membership. No way to win a strike, quite the opposite in fact. They need a kick up the arse so I`m all for people complaining about the lack of info if it helps get the message through their thick skulls. As for the PEC being on our side? I`ll reserve judgement on that till I see the deal.
Furthermore taking into account the mistakes already made doesn`t exactly inspire a great deal of confidence in these people. No wonder people are getting fed up with it all.

For most of us the parameters have never changed:

1. No strings
2. No executive action
3. Pensions remain the same

There is NO right and wrong one minute to the next, that is the line of the appeaser,

The union has conducted itself very poorly. The PEC aren't negotiators, they look at whats on offer, and decide whether it is in the interests of the membership or not. In this case it is not. What we should now be concentrating on is how to get the membership back on board. Quite frankly that in itself is going to be a difficult task

It strikes me, and there is no pun intended, that our executives have accepted the offer in their own minds and cannot now negotiate on our behalf.

Well felang is right about one thing, seems like they're s**t scared of u.i.a., it's becoming quite clear that they're not that keen on official i.a. either though of course.

One of the things which inevitably happen when information is witheld is people begin to imagine the worse. One of the biggest complaints about the CWU is the lack of communication at times like this. We had it right through August and we have it again now. All sorts of rumours begin, some of them quite believable. The PEC have to realise that they run the risk of turning waverers into strike breakers if they continue like this. I think you're right when you say the talks are likely to be bitter, but for me, this is precicely why we should be anouncing strike dates.

we have to remember we are a communications company and to be honest the communication from both the union and royal mail to us over the ia is absolutely crap. how can our customers have confidence in us to do a good job if they cant communicate to their staff properly?

The union need to be providing some information to the membership - the only info I get is from here, and all of it I repeat to my colleagues with the caveat that it is not from official channels.....but when you have screws shooting their mouths off about this, that and t'other, you need to know something so you can throw it back in their face or just smile serenly as you say "Yeah, right, whatever."

Otherwise, as it was said above, you will get waverers going to the darkside - their moral eroded by union incompetence and screw bullshit....doesn't matter if it comes out next year, next month, next week that the union had good reason not to communicate or that the screws made their own bullshit up on the spot, or from RM emails, because next year, next month, next week could be too late - it doesn't matter if the truth arrives too late....don't believe me? Wait till we sign up and agree to a settlement....then see how quick RM get their financial results out that show we could have a far superior settlement, if we as a membership had made more effort to continue IA with greater numbers.....numbers lost because people had no information to think it was worth continuing.
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

You've hit the nail on the head there. They could at the very least give us some idea of what (if any) progress is being made. If you create an information vacum, it will be filled from somewhere (just like any other vacum). And in the absence of accurate information, rumors and speculation will appear!

Must say Im a little upset as to the game plan here alot of us went the 4 days out to create the baclog we had already mopped up so 4 days out lot of pay gone not heard to many people moaning about it up to now.
But now we enetr another period of NO info and RM working to get the back log down, the ball was in our court the minute the last strikes were called illegal a (A Shi##y Trick in its selve) a fresh round should have been announced instead we are becoming diveded on miss info no sorry NEW DATES ASAP as much as I will miss the the money. It is sadly the only thing these people listen to it hurts them eneough to go to a High Court and fumble us so get them back on the ropes.

CWU Website a couple of sentances a day but what have we got a posting on the 19th relating to talks on the 18th adjorining until yes you guessed it the 19th we need info and it is not getting through...

lets remember, that the union forced an embargo on rm, that the talks wer private. it would be wrong for the pec to go and relese info when rm are sticking to it, remember, we dont want to stoop to leighton and croziers level! KEEP THE FAITH!! the pec will do the correct thing!!

that period of calm has finished though hasnt it, besides we`re not asking for a full blown account, just a little show of appreciation and support would help.
