In my office 95% of people have gone back to using the vans, they don't come in early, don't run around and don't finish early. Everone I spoke to agrees that now all the stress has been removed from us and put back on the DOM's. Every day mail is left behind as we are told only take enough to get to your finish time, no cutting off. Every day managers are taking delivery's out cos they can't cover overtime. There is a rumour spreading that our SDOM's job is on the line as the budget has ballooned in recent weeks, we have over 20 hire vans and numerous casuals and agency staff on site.
Whatever it was Crozier and Leighton thought would happen, now the opposite is true, they thought we were pulling the wool but we have proved that doing the job by THEIR rules meant we needed more not less workers. They stripped resources, cut jobs and told us we could do more and for years too many of us gave in and slaved away for no thanks well now the worm has turned, we don't see the point in killing ourselves for no rewards. :lfo

Jackdaw im an indoor postie ( M/C ) it would appear that if all offices worked your way and continue in this fashion then RM will soon realise that the so called "spanish practices" are what is getting the mail delivered and failure to return to this method will have far more impact than any strikes have done. At this stage RM will be going back to the CWU in a couple of months asking them to return to the old ways !!!jackdaw wrote:In my office 95% of people have gone back to using the vans, they don't come in early, don't run around and don't finish early. I don't see people in my office ever using their cars regularly again, some of them have realised they were spending over £20 a week extra on fuel never mind the wear and tear. Using the vans has put £1000 back in their bank accounts.
Flexibility is the next major fight we can win. Whatever it is we are told to do just go and do it, but do it properly, if none of us rush to finish early none of us will have extra work to do. We all need to remember the minimum sorting rates and aim to do just a couple of trays an hour more so the DOM cannot say anything, drivers need to stick to speed limits, walking men need to WALK not run, bags should be weighed and H&S rules should be vigorously observed. Crozier wants an end to spanish practises well he can have it because it suits us more than it suits him.

One of the best things that Dozier :cfo has come out with is that he just wants folk to work the hours that they are paid for, most of the guys in our office are doing just that, stress free and sweat fee these days

superb ! your office has done a great job illustrating the problems with the managements proposals. Its a same that not all offices around the country could have followed suit. Im one of about 5-8 people in my office still doing the job properly, most have gone back to using their cars.
