What's your offices saving target?
And are you any nearer it been implemented before April 1st? Out of an office of 19 rounds and 25 postmen we have to lose a duty and a person, currently at a stage 2 disagreement between manger and union how this is going to be achieved

Ours is done, basically the lapsing we were already doing has been put onto our frames permanently. (About 10-15 minutes worth). VR's have been agreed, just needs signing off and that's it.Sbutts8182 wrote:And are you any nearer it been implemented before April 1st? Can't you just give someone VR (somebody must want it surely) and split up their walk between everyone else?

I'm not sure we have a target - we seem to be just getting rid of full timers and replacing them with part timers. The remaining full timers are then left to pick up the indoor work of those that left.

350 hours, no way we can give them that, but our rep seems hell bent on giving them what they want

Lapsing is based on what your current IWT and model week states.OnAFlyer wrote:Ours is done, basically the lapsing we were already doing has been put onto our frames permanently. Any VR offered must also be backed up with an agreed business plan, as per the national agreement.

Re: What's your offices saving target?
5% seems to be the figure that is bandied about. And if you compare that with other Businesses that seems to be a recognised Business Model?
You would think that at 5% a year, year on year it would only take 20 years and you'd have made 100% savings!
But I expect that's being to simplistic, and nobody's bothered to explain it to us.
I do know that the more efficient an Office is the more savings they are expected to find. Now I really would like someone to explain that to me. I suppose you can't flog a dead horse?

Slightly bizarre when RM are paying about £150k in VR then making staff up to FT.

Re: What's your offices saving target?
actually a 5% saving per year would take around 33 years to get within 1% of 100% savings - and heres the weird thingy mathematically you can never reach 100% savings by reducing it by 5% on each year.Dorset Plodder wrote:5% seems to be the figure that is bandied about. Easily explained here...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That looks like formula that worked our Dom's IQ. X +y = something that I have forgotten 'cause I missed that day at skool.
Or its calculation of the chances Clarkson getting back on Top Gear.

Re: What's your offices saving target?
3 deliverys going in our office plus a couple of ft staff on vr to be replaced by pt. Weird considering our new DSM confirmed yesterday what we all knew all along despite what our Dom has been saying, the traffic figures in our area are one of the few in the country which are up including letters! And that we are a very efficient office, on the upside he did say after these cuts we would be at the point were no more savings could be made.....
