If Scotland votes aye
what will happen to Royal Mail north of the border if Scotland votes yes to independence next month.
A large chunk of RM is still owned by the British government but i imagine it would be hard separate us from our friends over the wall,
Not heard anyone offer any solutions on TV.

salmond wants to re nationalise RM, that will complicate it even more, he wants the privately shareholder owned rest of uk part to subisdise the nationalised delivery service in another country where the delivery costs per household are significantly higher than the remainder of UK

Give the bloke 10 out of 10 for trying. He wants the oil and we can have the debts. We pay for defence of the nation whilst he shares the benefit from it. Sounds like a good deal to me!

I would have thought they would have considered this and would be able to give you a cogent reply.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If Scotland votes yes. The first thing that will happen is the Scottish Labour party will put up a half decent candidate and Salmond will be out on his ass come next election. So can't imagine he will have any say in what happens to RM. Salmond knows this too, which I suppose explains the half-hearted independence campaign thats been designed to confuse more than anything.zx135 wrote:saddlerposty wrote:what will happen to Royal Mail north of the border if Scotland votes yes to independence next month.

Labour don't have any decent candidates when Lamont inevitably gets punted. Jim Murphy is currently getting his arse handed to himself on a plate by yes supporters on his irn bru crate tour of Scotland and, worse, traditional labour supporters are joining in.
Unlucky.

Keep telling yourself this champ.
Better together are absolutely shitting bricks and patronising Lady has managed to alienate a strong female demographic into voting yes.
If you think this is a shoo-in then you're a mug.

Scotland can have independence if they agree to take Russell Brand and promise never to bring him back!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Politicians promise all kind of things before votes are cast. How are they at delivering?
Talk of re-nationalisation of RM is cheap - Actual deed not so much...

Re: If Scotland votes aye
I expect RM south of the border to stay exactly as it is, maybe even a bit more profitable if we're not delivering to far flung corners of the highland and islands six days a week but my question is what happens to our people who work for RM in Scotland.
would RM pull the plug or what?

Re: If Scotland votes aye
not one poll has put yes within shouting distance of victory
their is no big mo
salmond still refuses to say what plan b is
you just want independace for the sake of it,regardless of the harm it will do to scotlands economy
