Big drawback though is that they would use this as an excuse to get rid of 1/6 of the workforce even though you and I know we would still need them.

No AL and AC see it as a selling point that we deliver on Saturdays and thats why its a big DSA day, the banks and everyone else sending junk mail hope that people have time to read that crap on a weekend.madelin4 wrote:is mon-fri on the cards?

Re: Monday to Friday
By this i presume you mean we all work Mon-Fri and that there would then be no need for floaters? This is a tricky one because im sure a lot of us would say yes to this but it just undermines everything we are fighting for,all those people out of a job!Beforenineoclockgoodone wrote:For a matter of interest, who would be for working Mon - Fri with every Saturday off?

I think it is quite possible. At present it is part of the USO and would need legislation to change it, so, it isn't imminent but Postcom and RM are in favour of a Mon-Fri delivery. Postwatch are less than favourable. Think about the savings on staff. Lets for arguments sake say that RM win and their aim is to renegotiate the MTSF and IR framework - out go the full timers and hello part timers. I could imagine the wages bill being cut by a third or perhaps more.
Over a period new full time contracts with poor conditions appear and those on the 20/25 hour contracts sign on - who wouldn't?
