The loading bank at Edinburgh Mail Centre...

Post by M. Hawk »

hey folks
just thought I'd put a wee post up telling of the state of the loading bank at about 7pm this evening
with the vans bringing in the mail from the collections and firms runs, the first pick-ups since the strike

the full length of the loading bank, a good half footie pitch end to end
mail piled about 5 foot high
then about 7 or 8 feet back towards the wall
completely shafted full of bags/boxes/pouches of mail, and thats not even close to all the vans back with collections!!

feckin hilarious to see!

No yorkies to get the stuff inside and not one warehouse worker really giving a toss about getting it in LOLOL

Superb.

RM is definately feeling the impact

Same at Mount Pleasant. We were already chockers with the backlog of foreign inward arriving from Heathrow and Gatwick during the day. But when the collections started coming in there weren't any yorkies to put them in. Platform five or six feet deep with bags. Management have brought in agency/casuals but they are as useful as the managers. :lfo :cfo

that sounds like an awful lot of mail, but how does it compare to a normal day for those of us who dont work at a mail centre ?

The South East was about to be almost clear the day, until word got around about the 4 days pay. Then there was a mass chorus of 'f**k it'.

Keep the faith!

Guys, I hate to break up your party - but surely leaving all that post exposed is a health & safety risk and contravenes the RM remit to look after the mail? Is it really a good thing to cackle about how your employer is 'hurting' and 'feeling the pain'?

Our MC was completely "trashed" today the loading dock was swamped already from yesterdays collections, every piece of equipment was used and today the whole system came to a crashing halt - no equipment to put the work in LMAO! and little in the way of empty yorks being returned HAAAAAAAAAA
Arctic's were used to store work, and still it came - unbelievable!
Oh and any waverers were gob smacked at the collective force of our action, and how we DO have the power to send a message to the powers that be - we will not lay down and die. They were in awe of it.
