YOUR future in Royal Mail
What do all us hope to be in the future in this company?
I for one don't really fancy bein a walk postman for the rest of my days. This job is pretty piss nowadays, but on the flip side, RM is not too bad a company to work for (in the bigger picture). I am 33 now, and I cant see myself doin this for the next 30 years. Management looks a bit iffy just now, but in the future I may give it a bash.

Whatever I do in the future, it'll be an honest days work. In my book, that rules out any possibility of becoming a screw. You do realise, do you , thatchief wrote:What do all us hope to be in the future in this company?

becoming a screw will mean having to screw your colleagues? I wouldn't entertain such a disgusting course of action, not even for a nano second.

So it's a case of being a chief in the present but a big chief in the futurechief wrote:What do all us hope to be in the future in this company?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I'm in the same boat as POSTMAN 20 years left...I did have a think about being a gaffer, but I'm now a rep and I'm proud of it...Plus I was told I would never be any good as a gaffer <this was told to me by my old shift manager> as I wasn't a nodding dog like the rest of them and spoke my mind...Now all I see are people who have been in the business for five minutes and think they know everything being made into managers...So I know management isn't for me. I work hard and have a clear conscience, and I'm now in a postiton where I can be of benefit to my workmates more than a hinderence.

I would never become a screw, just remember when :lfo and :cfo have finnished with us the screws will be next, :lfo and :cfo are giving screws bonuses so they can get all their changes through but once they have done it then its screw kicking time, think i will buy myself a pair of size 12 steel toe capped boots ready for when the time comes.

Thanks, madelin..............
And you're right, we're just numbers on a bit of paper despite their frequent inscincere references to us being "their people." Would any caring,
responsible employer really bust a gut to ensure "their people" became a totally demoralised, underpaid, overworked, stressed out, harrased,
workforce? ....... The answer has to be a resounding, no. The only people who really appreciate postal workers, are postal workers. We must, this
fortnight, unite in solidarity, stand together shoulder to shoulder, remain firm in our resolve, and see off once and for all, the government sponsored
parasitical privateers. Judging by the number of fine colleagues, from all over the UK, on these boards, I've no qualms that we'll do just that.

partake of a glass of hemlock before I'd cross the great divide, and believe me, there's no greater divide than the one between screws and workers.
uncrossable, mate, uncrossable.
