The only thing about this poll is that most of us on RMC are pretty switched on and will know because we take the time to find things out.

The percentages make no sense as they are spread amongst all of the questions. Each double set of questions Yes or No should add up to 100%, not all of the questions adding up to 100%

Probably best if reps abstain.
A rep isn't really shop floor and the questions should be pointless to a rep.

In our office, if someone gets elected to a union office, you might as well throw them an old-fashioned American wake. You ain't never ever seeing them again.

Ditto! Even the rep isn't told and the last time I enquired it was 26 miles away and I was informed after the meeting had finished!!! Yes get involved is the cry but the reality is very different.

why isn't a local rep shop floor? all local reps i know do exactly the same work as the rest of the membership and release time for locals in my experience doesn't happen.

I think the point of this poll was to measure the engagement level of ordinary members.
Is there any point in asking a rep whether they know who their area rep and branch is? :nervous

Sorry to let the side down but the only question that I could answer "yes" to was knowing who my unit rep was.
Everything else is a complete and utter mystery to me. The union couldn't be further removed from me if they tried.

All my information comes from this site.

As for the union well they take my subs and I benefit from the negotiations done at national level and that's about the strength of our involvement with each other. :sad:
