What is the Motive behind end of MTSF?

Post by stephen500 »

I wonder if the end of MTSF in Apr 08 is just a scare tactic designed to get rid of as many employees as soon as possible?
What will be the new policy, that is both commerical and sensitive? Statutory redundancy?

Probably something along the lines of no conduct code just a letter from the manager saying:

"Sorry (the sensitive bit), you are no longer employed by Royal Mail (the commercial bit).

Exactly right teebs. The truth of the matter is this. RM face a massive cut in staff, therefore big payouts, whether buy downs to p/t or EVR's. If they get away with scrapping the current MTSF, they would probably scrap buy downs, pay as little in redunacy payments as possible and the golden turkey would be the removal of allowance protection. i.e goodbye to your ''protected early start money''
This would give them more money to waste on s**t machinery and would probably line leighton and crozier's pockets when they leave the business

The end of the MTSF is the end of an agreement and yet another severance of the workforce from the CWU. The granting of "Grandfather" rights flies in the face of the MTSF and is cleverly designed to appeal to the greedy b*stards as most of these so called improvements have been designed to do - take the SDD - money on the wage, bonus 1st year, bonus 2nd year, 92p 3rd year - some people haven't the brains they were born with.

No - its one of the strings that they have added to the ridiculous new offer.

And if the greedy bastards see pounds in front of their eyes, they forget the rest and find their skint come the following years, meanwhile those two twats walk off with a massive golden handshake and the business is well and truly f*$ked
Watch out for the mysteron boys

No I'm not saying it has been agreed - what is in the offing is "we have listened to "our people" who would rather keep it until they no longer have a job" although when they actually "asked" anyone is unclear - I have this vision of "our people" being a bunch of sodomised drunks being kept in a cupboard and wheeled out to play a role when required.

We are all aware of the MTSF agreement and the rights to the allowance up to three years - personally I'd be happy to keep to the agreement in the hope that in the next three years those two prats would be gone (or should I say four) and we can get a new agreement to either extend or incorporate into basic pay.
