None at all. I start at 7am dont get an early payment and would love to see a decent basic pay rise instead of mucking about with odds and sods. ALL I WANT IS A DECENT PAY RISE !!! 2% f*** OFF!

I always thought that the early start money stopped a 5.01am (of course I may be wrong but it's what I was told)

Part timers get the same rights as full timers.
If the allowance is given to ft guys who start at the Sat time you mentioned then you should get it as well.
But as dp said it may have been stopped after 5-01.
Anyone else know.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I'll bet your from Portsmouth! And the bad news is you don't get the early shift allowance - it does finish at 5 but no worries what you've never had etc.
It wouldn't be much anyway for one day - it's barely worth it for 5 days.

Yes you're due an allowance, it's in the Way Forward agreement.

When it came in it was £5.36 a week for starts between 05.01 and 05.30, I think it's now just over £6.

You'd be due one days worth, and it's pensionable.

geordie: what is the way forward agreement??
i have been fighting for my early start allowance for last couple of months...
i explained my situation to my rep,dum,rm helpline,payslip people,etc..
i start at 5am every day but my contracted hrs are 8am-1pm..
first,i was told i am entitled to receive that money but then dum chanched his mind and said i am not..
when i phoned payslip people in sheffield they told me few times i am entitled and i asked for ref nr regarding my case..passed next day this nr to dum and he phoned up there and quoted it and said then that we r not entitled !!
what i found out is that there are so many p/t posties who start at 5am and dont get any extra money that if rm started giving them this allowance it would be a dissaster for bussines..
so even if we r entitled they keep lying that this is only for posties who have 5am in their contracts!
so my last help might be the Way Frwd Agreement...what it is and where can i read about it?

SHIFT ALLOWANCES
There will be assigned shift allowances, paid all-year-round including during holidays and short-term sickness (periods up to two months), for jobholders with attendances as follows:

Dawn shift (starts between 0201-0400) = £20.40 per week fully pensionable
Early shift (starts between 0401-0500) = £10.71 per week fully pensionable
Early shift (starts between 0501-0530) = £ 5.36 per week fully pensionable
Evening shift (finishes between 2000-2139) £15.30 per week fully pensionable
Late shift (finishes between 2140-0159) £31.62 per week fully pensionable
Night shift (three hours worked across 2300-0500) £61.20 per week (of which £31.62 is pension-able and the remainder non-pensionable, balancing against the higher basic pay)
Split Duties (conditioned hours of a single contract £ 8.67 pw if total span over 10 hours,
involving two daily non-continuous attendances, £17.34 pw if total span over 12.5 hrs,
covering at least four days or nights of the week) £25.50 pw if total span over 15 hours.

Employees not receiving an assigned allowance who are required to attend ad hoc within conditioned hours on a relevant shift (e.g. as a reserve) will receive a one-off pensionable (or part-pensionable at night) and contributory payment for each attendance. This will be equal to the weekly amount divided by the number of attendances to which they are conditioned for that week (e.g. for a single night shift of a five day week it would be £12.24). Where someone is required to work ad hoc within conditioned hours on a shift attracting a higher payment than their usual job then the additional payment will be based on the difference between the two shift payments. However where employees arrange with their Resourcing Unit to exchange or swap their attendances voluntarily for personal reasons, for a period of less than a week, there will be no additional payment and no change to the normal shift payment arrangements for the employees involved. For temporary shift changes of a week or more, the allowance will be paid to each employee at the appropriate rate for the shift actually worked.

I thought the reason for a 0615 start rather than 0600 was because they still had to pay shift allowences at 0600 ?

Who knows what's in their tiny little minds!
Chances are if things are put back 1hr,the 5-15 guys will be affected.
We're moving from 5-45 to 6-00
