Door to Door the future

Post by AndyK »

door to door items are very likely to increase following any agreement (the union can't refuse the extra work and revenue they would bring)
What are posties thoughts on door to door, would we accept a door to door supplement to deliver 3 or more items if the work was put into indoor time or would we prefer to keep the unit payment on door to door whever it is 3 or more or as any one got thoughts on an alternative?

Can we deliver them the same way the competition do :

Stuck in hedges
hanging out of letterboxes
left on doorsteps
wedged in gates
posted properly at the end of a trail of footprints across a flower bed

???????

You pays yer money - you takes yer choice - if they want it to be a flagship service they had better look at two things - a higher rate per item and a reduction in delivery points if we are to deliver one a day over a five day duty.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

its all well and good agreeing to deliver more door to doors but are we gonna get paid to deliver them?or are we gonna get shafted and only get paid for the 1st 3 lots of door to doors and then do the rest for free.thats if we keep our door to door payments at all.
also there aint enough room in our office and on our benches as it is without another 5 lots of door to doors to deliver.

i might be in the minority here but i personally dont mind doing 5 or 6 as long as i get paid for them i see it as if im going there with 3 why not 6 and double my money but i must stress that im on a rural delivery i drive just about everywhere so i dont have to carry them no doubt id be thinking a lot different if i was on a walk

the thing is in our office we just havent got the staff to put the door to doors round as it is,and its hard enough trying to get 3 lots of door to doors in youre frame what with a.s.a.p and throwing out youre deliver..

and you just know managent will do everything they can to not pay you anything above 3 lots.
if this goes through you can bet any money we will get shafted..

The delivery bit of D2ds is easy its the prepping thats a pain. For me to accept more D2Ds I would have to have the following:

1. Presorted so you just pop it into frame.
2. A total weight Limit. so they don't give you 5 or 6 heavy ones. (They would try it)
3. Less call points as 100% call rate every day.
4. D2D prep and delivery written into duty.
5. Sorry about this for you cover guys but you to do them as well (or they ain't going).
