Have nights gone completely in your place?

They're looking to get rid of our last one,was just wandering have any of you guys lost all your nights,and how you're getting on.
My rep was complaining that we wont get any hours back from our revision to get someone in a bit early to put a bit of work out.
My argument was f**k 'em if they want it to go then let it go,it'll be better for us in the long run as we'll be getting out later so the chances of more job cuts will be next to nothing,well until the new machines come in but then it will be minimal.

We've a couple left in at our office,this was a concession on safety grounds,however there's less and less mail
coming through the night and it seems only a matter of time before we lose them!

Night duties in our office(clapham sw4) went in june last year under our revision.We had 4 duties 2 of the boys took E.V R and the other 2 came on to day duties(walks) ,they keep there night allowance for 3 years as there jobs were taken from them, a total of 15 X 5.5 hour s/a slots

were then put in place for staff to pick up.R/mail know want to remove all the s/a and replace it with 2 x 1 hour slots

each day

We have told them that this is totally unacceptable and are up for a tear up

They are trying to get rid of them here but union is fighting it.

it looks like they want all the nights. in the london SW and SE post codes. they still have`nt said how they will get all the work into our office for 4am. on an average night we have around 60 yorks of work in our office 4 lorry loads and thats without the 3 to 4 yorks sometimes 5. we have left for us from the mid day arrival. our drivers say we will still be getting work down at 9.30am.so sod knows what time we will be getting out.

That's what i can't understand,if our Dom than says to us that they'll be a couple of hours each night SA to get someone in early to let the drivers in or to put some work out ect,then we should all say bollox,you want nights to go then we'll let it go.
But then there will be the problem of 2-3 or probably more lorries outside(We're a 2 office building) waiting for us to come in at 5-45 to let them in

If we ALL so no then what are they gonna do?
As for what time we get out,should we really care,hey,we all like to get out asap and get it done,but times are changing they're looking for us to do longer walks soon when the new machines come in,the later out we are the better it is for us.
They must have some sort of plan for it all,but i can't figure it out

I wonder what the accountants say bout all this

The first thing is to say in your weekly resource meetings about the nights cuts are:

1) A preference excersize to ALL nights(ie EVR etc)

2) Secondly the money from the goverment is coming next month,however the sequencing machines
are,nt working.Royal Mail have chosen the Siemens model which can,t cope with A4!!

3) Ask them,"is Job & Finish" over.If they reply "yes".Ask them to formally announce this to the staff

4) It,s only the "cut & tip" off the nights that have been agreed
