Body without a heart....

Post by rhino49 »

.... or employer without a workforce - take your pick, either way something important dies.

With the thread starting about a 4 hour contract being advertised, I cast my mind back to the advent of the Consignia name change and all the ideas for change that managements whizz kids were plucking out of the air.

I suggested at the time that Royal Mail appeared no longer to want the inconvenience of being an employer with all the responsibilities that that placed upon them and would probably become a factoring agency that simply allocated work to one franchise or another and reaped a relatively unearned benefit from doing little in the way of work.

The trend now to shorter and temporary contracting indicates that they are, unless stopped, heading in this direction, and see it as their opportunity to absolve themselves of responsibility not just to their workforce but eventually to their domestic and small business customers.

A company without an enthusiastic and productive workforce dies eventually due to the constant introduction of the wrong stimulants - ideas from above read from the thoughts of Chairman Wow and underlings who nod enthusiastically at the mere mention of the latest bullshit buzzword.

A perfect company pyramid sits not on it's base but is inverted to balance precariously on a tip occupied by a person unhindered by conflicting interests, who supports, encourages and cares about those above him. At the opposite end is a wide interface of people whose meeting with the public shows obvious signs of job satisfaction and dedication that gives encouragement and confidence to it's customers - this interface is the lifeblood of Royal Mail and the heart that drives it in the form of it's experienced and dedicated employees is being overworked by bad business practise and a careless abandonment of responsibility in the pursuit of wealth and power.

We have all seen the win/win lose/lose formulas posted in our workplaces but these are as usual dictates and not invitations for a point of view or an idea. Do you people up there have the temerity to think that your employees are merely drones that do your bidding? There is a wealth of intelligence, learning and raw valuable experience amongst us that you consistently ignore.

There is also a passion and a determination that wasn't learnt on management courses about controlling a workforce and fleecing a customer.

This company is sick and the vultures are gathering - so get up, tell them to f**k off and get a new doctor.

In the meantime - here's a prescription:

DO NOT DICTATE TO US - TALK TO US
DO NOT BLAME US - TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS
DO NOT THREATEN US - ENCOURAGE US

That was excellent , rhino. Lamebrain & Dozier should be made to read it , whether they'd understand it without the
need for illustrations , is open to debate. :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause

the absolute minimum they can "legally" get away with re Duty of Care, most of it is completely superficial & to impress / make things " look straight". I agree in the medium to long term , RM can't afford to have such low morale . Those Charalatans are short-termers out of thier depth , only two ideas - privatisation & shareholders @ AGMs.
Good post like Paul Routledges! :lfo The amount of parasites who should never been promoted @ junior & middle level within RM amaze me , problem is that they prosper under this Top down regimented style. They call it Animal House Mgt - lots of clones with lots of corruption.

YES A BRILLIANT POST - REMINDS ME OF SOME OF THE HIGHLY INSPIRATIONAL STUFF THAT MADE ME FEEL LESS ALONE DURING THE WORST EXCESSES OF THATCHERISM - QUESTION: - IF THATCHER NEVER EXISTED WOULD WE BE IN THIS POSITION NOW? WHEN I SEE THE GREED MENTALITY THAT STILL SURROUNDS AND SMOTHERS RIGHT AND GOOD PEOPLE YOU JUST WANT TO HIDE IN DESPAIR. (deep for this guy . . . . . . . ed). SORRY, JUST OFF TO FIND MY BILLY BRAGG, RIP RIG AND PANIC, AND THE POP GROUP ALBUMS, SNIFF!!!!

'"tell them to **** off & get a new doctor - in the mean time heres the perscription" - pity Dr Shippman decided to leave us all ?, Nurse Beverly Allott as :lfo practice nurse ? , quite a few people would trust :lfo :cfo as much as they'd trust Shippman with thier mothers . surprised :lfo hasn't been prescribed worming tablets after eating that dog food he's been quoted as doing !, painkillers were needed once as he'd hurt his neck trying to lick his b******s . Problem is he wants us all to eat ****. There is some Rampton Patients running RM , they tend to be Board Members or Senior Mgt . Even that well known left wing Socalist Rag The Telegraph described the regimented Mgt style as Maoist , after that "caring " dictate from a Post Office Director about Postmasters not getting thier payouts if they didn't stick to Chairman Al's script to secret customers . Wasn't it nice of her to apologise after she'd been shafted in The Mail & Telegraph ? . RM wants to send pensioners to the mortuary ASAP like Shippman. :lfo :cfo
