Would you support a vote of 'No Confidence' in Ward/Hayes/PEC?

Poll ended at 17 Mar 2010, 23:16

Yes - our CWU negotiation team have shown they don't understand the job by proposing this grossly unfair deal and they need to be replaced. I would fully support a vote of 'no confidence' in Hayes and Ward.

No - after the certain 'NO' vote for this deal the current CWU team will get us a second fairer and more acceptable deal. I support their continuing efforts.

The main issues with this dispute are about terms and conditions, yes pay is important, this is why we go to work. We all know that Royal mail needs to modernise to remain a viable business, to do this efficiently it needs all its workforce behind it.

How can we be behind them when we feel they don't have our interests at heart? We do not trust top management because they renegade on their promises. I just want to work hard and do my job efficiently and enjoy it for a fair renumeration. Modernisation can be an exciting and rewarding experience for both employee and employer.

The CWU has done us no favours because this deal is again likely to give a no vote, this time the public will think of us being lazy and stupid for turning down such a good pay deal whereas in reality most of us will be getting a pay cut for a larger workload.
Thanks CWU

Ive listened to Ward on many occasions and met the bloke at the LPC rally in Brighton last year.

The bloke had me going. Hes a great orator and talks a damned good talk.

But its clear thats where his skill lies. He is in the job because he is so convinicing; he appeals to the working man with his rhetoric.

Looking at this deal you have to question Dave Wards skills at negotiation and examine whether he really is seeking the best for his members.

I feel deflated, let down and above all angry about the prospect of having to stomach this deal, something I usually reserve for RM management.

The situation has changed from a members dispute with RM over unnegotiated change to a dispute with CWU over loss of D2D earnings. Work that one out!

Either the CWU are useless at their job or they are in colusion with Royal Mail. Can someone please tell me which it is?

I think we are all struggling with that one. How can they think this is good for us??? The only thing I can come up with is this agreement is 5 times better than what RM were throwing at them for 3months and so they accepted it. That would mean they have been hoodwinked and are not up to the job of negotiating at this level with an organisation employing experts in the field and with an unlimited budget. Our boys have been taken to the cleaners. Can we trust them to turn this around after the NO vote? Do we need the CWU to step aside and employ some expert negotiators to handle the talks? If they REALLY believe in this then they are no good for us, Jesus we pay their wages!!!!!!!
