The Agreement

Post by jaylime »

Had a phone call off my union rep today,as far as i know these are the main points.
1. weekly pay is staying
2. £20.50 payment a week for door to door, with no limit on numbers
3. later starts, with no full time employee starting later than 7am
4. 6.9% pay rise over 3 years
5. a bonus linked to a yes vote and local changes broke down into 3 payments of £200 £400 £600

thats as much as i know, the agreement is over 80 pages long,so make your minds up if you think its a sell out or not. :hmmmm

Haven't been able to read full agreement yet because I can't find link to it on CWU Web Site (wonder why). Any help appreciated.

Only comment I can make is about D2D payment. I make more on D2D's (set at max three) than your posted figure at the moment. It's a "stitch up".

You think that lapsing is gone? Think again - there are two trains of thought here:

1. D2D at 100% call rate included in work load - that means on the days that you have no D2D there is scope for "additional work"
2. Traffic - though the "work tool" is not in sight yet there is supposedly a daily "traffic figure" which will be at the 100% hours for delivery in your office - if it falls below that - "additional work" is possible - and guess who is the arbiter of whether there is scope or not - yep you've got it.

But of course you only work to your hours is the cry - yes that is true but how many have been "persuaded" to go that extra mile rather than face the consequences?

This isn't a knock at you BUT do you honestly think there will be days/weeks when your not delivering D2D's??

Royal Mail has turned down milions because of our cap of 3 per week, the flood gates will be opened if a yes vote carry's.

What will be more important in future failing D2D's OR Mail, D2D surley cannot be calculated properley as we will never know the true amount we are delivering until a week before they arrive,no technology is that quick and accurate.

As well as a totally flexable workforce (used to be called SLAVES in the day) are we to have fexable deliveries to??

Yes I do believe there will be days when there is no D2D. D2D are certainly not a universal market for every area so it will be a lottery as to who has and who has not. What will be difficult is to judge, with the inclusion of D2D, what the traffic figure is. Still if this is voted in we'll soon see how flexible we'll be expected to be.

Are you full or part time - part timers can be persuaded by the promise of overtime and the inference that there may not be future "opportunities for overtime" if they are not available - it happens and many people on here will have experienced it.
