Later Saturdays

Post by Millwallll »

Am i right in thinking the reason they want longer Saturdays is so they can use the new sequencing machines?

We have had sequencing for about 3 years, and when i start work at 6am, the sequenced mail is always there, or arrives by 6.30 at the latest

Or are there other reasons why they want us to work later Saturdays?

I can only speculate that the reason we`re getting 1 saturday off in 4 will mean we`ll have to cover these people who are off duties - therefore itll be a longer saturday.

It's just their way of having another dig at postal workers, hit them where it hurts most, what little benefit there is left for working in this shithole of a company. :evil/mad

Out of interest mate how much time since the sequencing has been introduced do you save prepping.

Isn't it only the letters that are in walk sequence?

You still have prep your flats as you used to do and of course your packets. As can't see how these machines we save us a lot of time.

Our DIM has told us that the trials have shown that the wsm have only saved 19 minutes prep per duty

I'm afraid our nation's postal service is now in the hands of clowns. A circus is what Royal Mail is becoming. A sick joke, modernisation, when before it, people got their mail earlier, and after modernisation, customers, both domestic and business, get it later. It makes very little sense to me.

The 1 Saturday in four is optional,so does that mean that those who don't want to do it or can't do it will remain as we are now.If so where would those who opt out of this stand as in covering the Saturdays if they are working a normal 8hr shift?
