(DELIVERY) If We Vote Yes - 2012 Before we see pay rise!

Post by postman_jack »

Here are some details based on my pay I what I currently get before any deductions.

NOW
Basic Pay - £347.61
Shift Allowance - £12.60
Avg. D2D's - £20.74 (3 lots at 1.75p with 395 calls)

Total Gross Pay - £380.95

Here is how my pay would for next few years look should we vote yes.

New Deal - 2010
Basic Pay - £354.56
D2D Payment - £20.80

Total Gross Pay - £375.36 (£5.59 worse off than my current pay)

New Deal - 2011
Basic Pay - £359.53
D2D Payment - £21.09

Total Gross Pay - £375.36 (£0.33 worse off than my current pay)

New Deal - 2012
Basic Pay - £372.11
D2D Payment - £21.83

Total Gross Pay - £375.36 (£12.99 better than my current pay)

I know there have been people saying not everybody gets the shift allowance but I would say majority of the delivery workforce do. Another thing, is that I have a low call amount compared to most people on here and they'll be a lot worse off than me!

Totally agree.
It's not the amount of d2d that you will be doing if this agreement goes through, it's the weekly cash in your pocket thats important.
Vote for a pay cut - I don't think so!
As for the lump sums, pure bribery.

Forgive for giving myself a 20p on the D2D's. I set the pay rate at 1.75p because as I said it was an average. We deliver papers in my office at 4p odd each and most things we deliver in my office are at 1.75p.

Do you think Im going to prep and deliver 400 papers plus 4 other leafets for £20.60 when I would get £50 plus!

Don't think so!

Regarding the lump sums.

They were part of the 2007 agreement, they are the colleague shares we were given. We are entitled to that whether we accept the agreement or not. I not 100% sure but people who joined the business in the last few years will not get those lump sums anyway as they were not given any colleague shares.

£1,500 which is paid for as far as I can tell from CS so we were going to get it anyway. However based on the 3 year life span of the agreement

it amounts to £9.61 per week (pro rata) but and here is the rub not all are guaranteed and we have to jump through hoops ro get them.

The other £1,000 + cant be counted because its based on perceived values of the CS scheme at the time of being paid out.

 :arrrghhh Lump sums have nothing to do with basic pay and long term earnings! Pensionable? :no no

Our colleague shares pay for our lump sums, our meal relief pays for our reduction in working week, our shift allowance and d2d pay for our supplement, which for most of us will be a net loss! As i see it,we've negotiated to accept what's already ours!!

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.................

Royal mail and the media can spin it all they like but as me auld grandad used to say....."You cannae shine a shite"! :no no

Here's an example I created for the 32½ hour PT staff in our D.O.
Currently

£282.43 Basic Pay
£10.04 Early Shift Allowance
£30.00 D2D (based of avg 600 calls at 5p per call [3 x 1.67p])
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
£322.47
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

2010-2011

£288.00 Basic Pay
£16.74 D2D supplement
£15.63 £1000 in 3 lump sums pro-rata @ £812 divided into 52 weeks
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
£320.37 loss of £2.10 (and as many D2D as they can throw at you)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

2011-2012

£292.11 Basic Pay
£17.31 D2D supplement
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
£309.42 loss of £13.05 (and still the D2D keep coming)

2012-2013

£302.33 Basic Pay
£17.91 D2D supplement
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
£320.24 loss of £2.23 (and yes you've guessed it with the D2D)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

A small point and sorry to upset some of the calculations that people have done but the £20.60 will be paid 52 weeks of the year. Currently, with 2 weeks off at Christmas and 4 weeks holiday a year I am only paid for D2D's for 46 weeks of the year.
Would need to add a further £123.60 to the new pay total for the year.
Before the torrent of abuse rains down upon me, like I said, a small point but in the interests of accuracy. LOL.

It's a fair point, but what happens if you calculate lost earnings using four, five or six d2ds!
