Yes, unless you phone in on Saturday and tell them you are returning to work on Monday.

when possible if you ring in sick, give what you think will be your return day e/g knock thursday should be fine by end of saturday otherwise every day untill you walk through the door is a sick day, however these days your boss will most likely be on the phone to you every day,but never ever return to duty untill you are fit if you wonder why pm and i will give you a very good reason for it

This has always pissed me off, can't see why we can't get this changed.
I had 4 weeks off (ok a lot i know) but was down for 28 days when in reality it was only 20.
Yes i know the old 'well you can't be not sick on either your day off or sunday' line.
But it's still a pisser.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

All reps who use this forum should raise the question at their next area committee meetings. I think it's an absolute farce to be honest. Been in stage 1's and 2's with members and they've asked why is a sunday counted. Usual response from a dum is 'because it does'
I've had a quick browse throught the attendance procedure. Can't find any piece about absences including sundays and rest days.

There's a manager in Liverpool who is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. (Each to their own.) The Seventh Day Adventists believe in keeping the Saturday Sabbath just as the early Christians did, and the Jews still do. This lad challenged Royal Mail and no longer has to work on Saturdays. One of the things Thatcher did was make Sunday a normal shopping day and those who were already employed in shops etc, could opt out of working on religious grounds. The bosses soon got wise to this and began asking prospective employees if they were prepared to work on Sundays. Needless to say anyone who wasn't didn't get the job. Personally, I think a person's religious belief is their own affair and as long they're union members, the union should look after them.

There is no way Sunday, as a non-working day, should count towards absences. It's another Royal Mail scam and a left over from the 1800s.
