Porches:Got shouted at today.

Post by POSTMAN »

There's this one house, has a porch, with no letter box on it apart from the front door inside.
Its got some sort of plant stand thing and other bits and bobs in the porch.
I don't go in,i open the door and put the letters on the floor, job done.
Had a bit of a to do last year,i told them, after they complained to me about it,that i weren't going in as i could break something
especially if i've a full bag, also there's no room to swing a cat in there let alone anything else.
Its a porch with 2 doors but the size of the doors aint your normal front door size but half, and only one's open.
I'm f****d if i'm struggling to get in,deliver,do a 360,and struggle out again,without smashing the place up.
Anyway heavy day today pissed off ect and some how i forgot to close it properly, hence some bird coming out shouting at me that "if i'm not gonna use the letter box close the bloody door"
I just ignored her.
Some porches have the sliding doors you know the really, really stiff ones
If they aint got a letter box i usually just open 'em a bit bung the letters/packets in.
Some i can get into, you get to know the ones you can/can't,but i aint into 'the worlds strongest man' or 'its a knockout' competions ffs.

You guys?

I've got one annoying tw*t who gets everything. Junk mail magnet he is, catalogues, competiotions, free samples the lot. Trouble is his letter box is about the size of an audio cassette. And he has a go at me for leaving it in a neat pile on a table in his porch. So to do as I was told I delivered the stuff that fit and slip left the rest. Now he keeps his opinion to himself. These small letter boxs may have been enough for telegrams and the like in the 1930s but the modern postman carries so much shite that people like him need a letter box the size of a serving hatch to accomadate it all.

Trouble is his letter box is about the size of an audio cassette -

This is of course one of those unchangeable laws of physics for posties.

1. The smaller the letter box the more mail they get.

2. When a dog bites a postie the first words of the owner are "he's never done that before".

3. When it says "Do Not Bend" they usually are before they get to the frame.

anybody else got any more

The thing with some modern letterboxes they ain't designed to take letters or for hands to go through them,i delivered to a new estate that was getting built moaned to the boss about the boxes he wrote a few letters to the company nothing got done. But the same company have changed the type of box for the new development.

How about the fact that the only women who answer the door in their underwear/towel/little nighty all look like Pat from Eastenders

not really a porch issue, but i remember a few years back,i was delivering letters to one house, and they had a front gate, about 2 foot high.and this thing was so rotten,i didnt see it and just walked straight thought the thing,

accidently smashing it to pieces..it was like a scene out of incredible hulk...luckily they werent in neither..

Again not a porch issue but I deliver to one those old peoples bungalows that are in a secluded area. During the Spring and Summer some off them put up hanging baskets and if I forget and come round the corner without looking. Ouch Image.

best attempted delivery was a retired friend who tried to deliver to a school but went into wrong entrance and unable to find letter box spied a wendy house in the schoolyard and promptly deposited mail inside!!! Same bloke also attempted to leave a packet inside an oudoor toilet in the back garden .... yes we all know what's comeing ... upon opening the door he was greeted with a cheery hello with a bloke with his trolleys round his ankles who took packet and returned to reading his newspaper.
