WTL , later starting times to go ahead August 13th

Post by madelin4 »

At WTL 2day, we where told that as from August 13th 2007 are starting times will be changing.. Town walks which start at 5am-now be 6am, rural men 6.15am-7.15 am..We where given sheets to state our preference i.e, ones who want vol redundancy, or drop in hours, or if it didnt suit due to any other reason i.e. family commit , they said about being transferred to the mail centre...ummm. Didnt think they shud be trying to set dates while we r in dispute.. looks like they will anyhow..

Get your branch to fight it. This is one of the 'strings'. It amounts to a pay cut. We've had late starts since October because we were lied to and told the mail would be arriving later. Of course this hasn't happened and we could easily revert to 05.00 from the stupid 06.30 we're now on. Watch out in forthcoming Work Time Lying for a film showing the Happy Campers at Runcorn DeliveryOffice telling all how great the late starts are. Needless to say they only picked compliant idiots and refused to let anyone holding the opposite view a say. The people they chose to interview are the type who would tell the enemy where the escape tunnel is for an extra bowl of soup. Watch out for the one with the beady eyes who resembles a rat.

Depending on your length of service, you will get it for three years or one year for newer people. Either way it's a pain in the backside and more so on Saturdays.
My advice is to get a good attendance record, then if you need a Saturday for anything, just go sick.

We didn't even get a WTLL session today our assistant DUM just shouted over the office that the later starts would be starting in August and that himself and the DUM will be having 1to1's with all the staff so they could explain it properly. I can only see this as a devide and conquer tactic by telling anybody whatever lies they want to hear (I know that I'll either not be included or be bullied and harrassed until I shut up).

I am currently totally disillusioned with the whole lot but I'll fight to the bitter end to oppose them, I'm quite prepared to stand alone against them but I don't know how long I can sustain it (but I'll have a good go).

Totally agree with IWW, your rep should be registering disagreement and flagging it to area, all these preference slips should be returned incomplete whilst we are still in dispute.

1to1's are voluntary, just don't go near any meeting to discuss unagreed changes.

It was our rep who held a meeting in the canteen and told us all we had no choice and might as well accept the later start times. Just talking to the lads on the picket line, there are a few who were for it last October who no longer want it. Once this dispute is over, I've asked the sub rep to bring the matter up. The sub rep is absolutely straight, which is why managers hate the sight of him.

Why should you be on your own? Must be others in your Office who feel as you do?
