If you expected..............

Post by rhino49 »

............to go into work today and find it quieter than usual, then you were probably wrong.
............to get an agreement between Royal Mail and the CWU that met all your aspirations, then you were probably wrong.
............to be greeted by your manager with a cup of tea and a smile, then you were probably wrong.

Let's face it, most of life's disappointments are only there because our expectations, fuelled by gossip, forlorn hope and eternal optimism are unrealistic. I've had a good look at what has been released to us after the long chat over endless cuppas and it seems to meet what we set out to get - basically a recognition that our management were not playing the game according to the rules and that we were not being treated with the respect as a workforce and a union that we felt we deserved.

I say "felt we deserved" because in all this furore about rights and wrongs we must recognise that some of us don't play the game according to the rules either and if our behaviour has come back to bite us on the arse then we have only ourselves to blame. Making a job seem easy when it isn't by taking risks and shortcuts may not cause a problem for the person doing it but will ultimately have an effect on a colleague later on that will cause them grief. Goodwill is one thing and should be shown where it is reciprocated by good and professional managers, but sheer greed whether for time or money will eventually reap a reward that you may not enjoy so much.

There is now an opportunity to do the job properly under the microscope of an independent arbiter at a time so busy that doing it any other way poses safety risks to yourselves and the colleagues you work with, so get on with it - do what we do so much better than any other delivery company, but do it the right way.

No own cars on delivery - take your breaks - come in on time and not before - if more work is needed we have plenty of casuals now to support us but NOT to take our work from us - if you are out on delivery you should not have to work after dark - make sure your manager gives you assistance - after all, they are there to help us aren't they ?
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

Now that's an excellent post
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Excellent post..
But people will always cut the job up,the flappers who come in early, use their private cars,no meal breaks etc.
This all started when we lost 2nd delivery.
I would dearly love for everyone to do the job properly but it just won't ever happen now as people are to selfish and are only out for themselves.
Such a shame.
