Part-time contracts?!?

Post by finney84 »

Ill keep this simple for everyone, Ive been with RM for a year now and currently working on a 24 hour contract. Could all those who have gone from a part-time 24 hour contract to a 36-40 hour contract, just drop a post here with the ruff date and the location. Thank you for your time people.

In my office there hasn't been a PT made up to FT in years, I believe there are PTs who have been there 6 years but have not had their contracts increased (but they have been doing FT hours for pretty much the whole time).

Then make sure they know they should be claiming annual leave based on the true nature of the working week.

I started on 30 hours about 2 years ago and went onto 40 after about 6 months.

18 months on a 25 hr contract with no sign of change. Loads have been there longer, and get extra hours (collections etc) but no change to contract.

I was full time 40 hrs at my original office, but then transferred to DO in a different part of country and had to go down to 30 hr contract to get transfer. After around 8 months i was made up to 40 hrs again, i was fortunate that a FTer needed to cut hours due to childcare arrangments etc, and we basically just swapped over.

When i started with Royal Mail seven years ago there was two of us at Guildford for the three days training who were going to work in the office where i am now.
He wanted to go part time as he had child care issues, part timers finished at 10.30 then, and i wanted to be full time.

Well you do not need to know that the DOM applied RM logic and put him on full time and complained that he would not do overtime and left me as part timer doing afternoon work to try and support a family.

I found a job with SEME and handed my notice in and funnily enough i got offered a full time position which was better paid than SEME.

I have regretted that decision ever since.
