Dear Members

MDEC MOTION
You will be delighted to know that our branches motion calling for a full revaluation of the MDEC keyers grade was carried unanimously by Conference.

In moving the motion Conference was informed that the role of an MDEC keyer had changed drastically over the last 5 years.

The motion was seconded by the North West Lancs branch (Stockport) and they called for Conference to back the MDEC workers and this call was certainly heeded.

The National Executive will now attempt to renegotiate a full revaluation of the MDEC grade with Royal Mail. As a branch we will as always keep you fully updated with any developments.

YES VOTE
You will all be aware by now that we have achieved a massive YES vote in the national ballot. As a branch we thank everyone who took the time to use their vote.

Despite what management may tell you there will be no knee-jerk reactions. The CWU remain 100% committed to reaching a negotiated settlement. We will now contact the business and offer the fresh talks.

Any developments will be displayed on notice boards and sent out via our email system. To join nearly 800 branch colleagues on this system

Right throughout this dispute Royal Mail campaign hard for a NO vote and remained confident that this would be he outcome. CWU members nationwide have shown them that we will not give in to the tactics that the business is using. We have stood together and delivered a crushing blow to senior management’s plans.

Once again thank you all for your support in this dispute thus far. There will be many more twists and turns to come. What we can promise you is good communications, honesty and that reaching an agreement will remain our priority!

The ball is now firmly in Royal Mail court.
