Long+shorts+everything esles

Post by Puppetmaster »

My office is a large office always busy, guys who transfer into our office are amazed at how busy we are.We had Peguas put in last year, wich was a total diaster, after such a mail backlog ,extra costs,RM settled for a quitet life with our Office,a new dom more emloyee freindly ,full rate for o/t and that was it,apart from many walks but not all are very large now.So for the past few months everything has been quiet.

Now long +shorts are coming in and reduced o/t payments ,and lapsing.

My question is how does it all work and is the work all shared out equal amongst the whole office ?

Just have vizions of others beening left alone whilst others get picked on !

The exception being any future summer lapsing owing to the drop in mail ( ) during the RM definition of when summer begins and ends. Or was it a case that the Pegasus outcome was modified using a common-sense approach to sizing delivery duties?

Depending on the size of your DO lapsing can cause a lot of friction. Some break down the duties equally in number of drops and seniority is used to assign the lapsed mail. Others use a system whereby the postie furthest from his own delivery has first option on the lapsed section to suit him and so on. Lapsing is not particular user-friendly as it deprives IPS of one or more people to prep the duty and there are always more losers than winners on the delivery side.

If all DOs had adopted the 'Do Your Job Properly' campaign and used the very few pieces of weaponry available in the P&M agreement (3 1/2 hr delivery, work to your hours etc) then lapsing would have not been an option for RM to exploit. But that is in a perfect world.

we have just been pegasus'd & are bringing in park & loop
yet we are told we will still be lapsing!!!!!

lapsing as it stands now is a walk broken up into chunks by a DIM and assigned to walks
so you get a list with your walk number and the part you take

How are you getting out at 8 - no one in our office is allowed out before 10.10 - the hub missort run doesn't get in til 9. We are still sorting at 8.40.

i may be going out at 8 but every one is still sortig and when i go back to office to get my bags i have to clear out again and delivery all the rest of mail thats left meaning going back to same house ive deliverd to earlier and with 650 drops plus 2 sets of high rise flats with no fob to get in them makes it a hard round indeed

How much quicker would it be if you went round just the once?

It would be an extra 20 mis quicker id say if i didnt have to redeliver all miss sorts had satchels on my bike insted of carrying 2/3 overweight bags on my bike as thers no bag drop on my round so i have to go back to office witch is roughley half a mile away and i do that 3/4 times a shift and if i had a fob key to gain entry to flats only mondays and tues i manage to finnishon time and go over roughley 30 mins every other day

From what you say there is a strong case for your delivery to be looked at on H&S grounds - carrying more than one pouch on a cycle is a no-no - if there are no bag drops you should have timed bag drops.

Stop carving up the job and follow RMs own rules because if you do then they'll find it very difficult to add extra to you and they may have to take work off you.
